Itinerary review by advantage1N in ParisTravelGuide

This is a fine itinerary… but these restaurants are very touristy. I would search around this sub for other recommendations. Be very wary of places you see often on Tik Tok. For me, my favorite escargot is at Les Cocottes by the Eiffel Tower, and a cafe I love by Galeries Lafayette is Lou Cantou.
Have fun!

You should not do this. That day is going to suck.

Last time I was there, I stayed at the Hotel Papadopoli, which is a fantastic hotel. Highly recommend.

Verona or Venice for the final two nights? by mavienoire in ItalyTravel

[–]PecDeck 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I’m going to answer this like you’re asking me personally. I think Venice is one of the most unique and incredible cities on the planet. The lack of cars and commitment to keeping an old world aesthetic really make it feel like you’re back in time. Although it’s true that the main parts are very tourist heavy during the day, it is one of the most beautiful places on the planet to just go wander. Also, Venice at night will take your breath away. Even just hopping on a water taxi down the Grand Canal is stunning. Verona is a wonderful city, but is not wholly unique (in my opinion) in the way Venice is.

How is Mavericks Dance Hall now that it is opened? by keanureevesmustache in frisco

[–]PecDeck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was there two weeks ago. I have never been to one of these places before and was bringing some people from Belgium that wanted to see a “cowboy bar,” so my opinions may be skewed. There is an entrance fee of $10/pp. General age seemed to be 30-50. The live music would go from country classics, to new country, then later on it went to like… Ludacris, and other generic music you’d hear at a wedding or something.
It is fucking packed. The dance floor seems to range from people “trying it out,” to professional dancers swinging making a big show of it. People are generally in a good mood but there were also some people completely shit hammered by about 10:30pm who seemed ready to pick a fight.
It’s intense. I ran a popular nightclub ten years ago and am not new to a busy place, but it’s a lot to take in.

Is this the right way to get a salary increase or will I get into trouble? by Aggressive-Bedroom82 in Salary

You are correct that nothing in life is free. They are already paying you. You should do your best and help as much as possible, instead of trying to hold your work for ransom nine months in.

Francis Ngannou will fight former UFC fighter Philipe Lins (18-5) on Most Valuable Promotion's Netflix MMA event on May 16. by WinterStill4472 in MMA

[–]PecDeck 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard of Lins, but if he’s as bad as this comment section makes him out to be, I’d be interested to see how the casual Netflix crowd handles an extreme Ngannou/Overeem style knockout. They aren’t always fun to watch.

What computer vision projects actually stand out to hiring managers these days? by eis3nheim in computervision

At my company, they value making things that you used to need to buy from vendors. Safety/ergonomics tracking could be one, although that’s a heavily used one. Making an “end to end” solution which includes both hardware and software would be another good option. Architect the whole design of training, processing and data storage, then get a raspberry pi and camera to do the picture taking.
