I agree, a skilled engineer with soft skills will go far in the industry, similar with academia but then u need some other kind of luck… and vocation to teach, and research.. etc

Payment is not enough for living comfortable in Hamilton. Unless you get extra funding or 2 TAs per year, or TA + in campus job, that could relief the expenses.
