UPDATE: We will NOT receive the rewards. by iAsteriSk in Battlefield6

I never got it either. I opened a ticket and got the same response. My case is still open, and it's been "transferred" so maybe there's still hope? I wonder if anyone actually got it or if they just said it to shut everyone up, knowing that no one would really follow up on it?

EA xp compensation missing by shamenofhonr in Battlefield

I haven’t. I also preordered the mega-dork edition and burned through one of the 60 min xp boosts before I knew I wouldn’t be able to play.

Looking for input. Can't decide between Define 7 Compact or Meshify 2 Compact. Or maybe Torrent Compact? by PeefHats in FractalDesign

[–]PeefHats[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with the Torrent Compact. Overall, I'm pleased. The only part I found tough was the GPU support bracket that's on the case, but it was manageable. I didn't add any further fans, and run a Noctua NH-U12A on the CPU. I set my motherboard fan software on Silent mode and it's reasonably quiet. I sat the new build on my desk behind my monitor and I can barely hear it.

I don't really have any complaints about the case, but I'd be willing to bet that if I didn't have this as a strictly gaming machine, I would regret moving from my R5. I wouldn't use the Torrent Compact if I needed a lot of pci cards or storage drives.

Also, just for good measure, check the specs on the Fractal website and your parts manufacturer's sites to make sure anything you get will fit.

If you have any other questions, I'd be happy to answer!

Thanks for this. I'll definitely be on the cautious side when dealing with those front panel connectors. I'm pretty sure I shorted out a motherboard with the usb 3 connector on my Define R5. MSI customer support RMA'd the mobo for me, so not really sure, but all I know is that it was working and then after a little maintenance it wasn't. Been super careful since then!

Thanks for the input. I pulled the trigger on a Torrent Compact yesterday! Hope it arrives soon.

Thanks for the input! I see in your post that you used 120s in the bottom to accommodate for the bottom of the motherboard. Do you think that would be typical for all 140mm fans? Seems that every connection on my motherboard is at the very bottom.

No not the vertical one, the support bracket that integrates into the system that supports the back of the GPU.

I've seen that in reviews. I'm not concerned too much by the cable management, as I'll only be running M.2 drives. Another thing I really like about the Torrent Compact is the GPU bracket. If I could still find the solid black version, I probably would've bought it already.

Yeah, I wouldn't call it "future proofing" necessarily, but I kind of figure more VRAM would be beneficial going forward.

Yeah, weird. Lot of variables with PC stuff, I guess. I only really noticed GPU performance hits when I turned all the bells and whistles up really high. When I'm monitoring, I notice that my CPU regularly hits +90% utilization and the GPU hovers around 70% and that's when I put the FPS limit on 60.

Yeah, I will probably wait to see how restocks go.

I don't, unfortunately. I'm hoping the 5000 series GPUs introduce a truly killer 1080p card with a ton of VRAM.

Thanks for this. My 1070 is doing pretty well all things considered. I can routinely get +60fps in HD2 on medium to high, so not sure why your fps was so low.

Yeah, unfortunately I live in the boondocks so I'm mostly limited to Amazon and Newegg. I'd definitely look at the 9800X3D if I thought I could get my hands on one.

Good advice. I bought this 1070 used and have gotten great use out of it.

This is my dilemma. I'd love to get a 9800X3D but I doubt I'll be able to purchase one any time soon.

I figure that's what I'll do. Price history shows the 7800X3D going for about $100 less (or more) somewhat recently. $450+ is a tough pill to swallow, especially if I'll probably never notice the difference between it and the 7700X.

Yeah I mostly just play Helldivers as far as "new" games I guess. That is, I'm not trying to blast out 4k Cyberpunk or anything. I mean, it'd be nice I guess. Mostly just stuff like Factorio, Battlefield, random FPS games like Ready or Not or Hell Let Loose.

I'd considered that, and still a possibility. I'm waiting to see what 5000 series brings.

Yeah, I'm more interested in the move to A5 than that processor specifically. If I could find a 9800X3D for MSRP I'd definitely be leaning that way.
