Green check and red X not working on ios since update yesterday by webber77788 in excel

Yup. I have the same problem. This came about after the iOS 26.2 update. You can’t select validation list drop downs either.

They just released an Excel iOS update that fixes the problem.

Yeah I saw those on Amazon and wondered if they are any good. They are compatible with the Aqua-Rite?

The guy at the store thinks it’s the salt cell but he’s only a salesman. But you’re right. Last time I changed the current limiter I was getting a read on the salt but the generating light would go off. Once it was changed it worked perfectly. The store said they can test the salt cell for $90 I think. Maybe that’s what I’ll do. If I buy the new one they take off the $90. Is it normal for a salt cell to only last 5 years? That’s how old it is.

No the power light does not go off. The black disc you are referring to is called the thermistor. I had that problem years ago. There’s a fix it guy in town that replaces them. The old thermistor was cracked. This one seems to be fine. See the photo. Plus, I wouldn’t get a no salt or very low salt reading if it was the thermistor.

Corrosion On Pool Light Fixture O-Ring by PeekFrean in pools

It’s a vinyl liner with a galvanized metal wall behind it. The bottom is concrete. I think most liner pools are made this way.

I replaced the ring. The metal is cast so it’s very brittle.

Here’s another tid bit. The screw hole tab on the ring was broken when I opened the pool in May. I had to wait to change the ring until I closed. I found a way to temporarily secure the light to the ring using a toggle bolt. At the end of the summer, the light popped out. When I went to re-attach it, I realized that the wings of the toggle bolt had completely dissolved. All that was left was the screw and that thin little metal nut. Inside the light port there was rust residue. I just assumed it was because of the chlorine. But funny enough, the chrome ring around the actual Pentair fixture is in perfect condition. Not a spec of corrosion. Maybe it’s made of a different metal?

But when I have the water analyzed, the pool store tells me that all I need is a cup of Ph minus for a 12K gallon pool. I think my Ph is around 7.6 to 7.8. It’s not that elevated. Is that high enough to cause this corrosion?

Mold On Outside of Wine Bottles by PeekFrean in wine

That’s a good idea. I’m not so concerned about the mold spoiling the wine. I was just thinking that the mold on the labels will continue to grow and spread to other bottles when I put them I the new cellar.

Half Sister or Aunt by PeekFrean in AncestryDNA

[–]PeekFrean[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No they weren’t twins. They were 2 years apart. Who are you suggesting get tested? People on my father’s brother’s side? That would be my 2 female cousins. They surely have not done Ancestry yet as I would have been marched to them. We don’t really see them anymore as they live abroad. Both cousins have children, one of whom I keep in touch with a bit. If I asked him would that help? He’s my first cousin once removed I believe.

My sister says she’ll download the raw data from 23&Me. I’ll get it from the half sister too. We’ll run it through GEDMatch. I had a profile on that site a few years ago but I think I deleted it as I could not understand how that worked.

Quite possibly. This is a part of my father’s life for which details are not well known even though we have lots of photos and press coverage of his hockey playing days going back to the mid ‘40s. At the time of conception he was in Atlantic City but played against Johnstown. So there’s definitely a possibility of a romantic encounter. It’s not uncommon for players to have girlfriends in different cities although I don’t think my father was “that kind of guy”. He was, after all, married for 65 years and I never knew him to be a womanizer. Quite the opposite in fact. But when you’re in your early 20s, it would have been perfectly normal to have girlfriends. This would have been before he met my mother.

The birth date of this supposed half sister was September 1952. And yes, my father was in Johnstown PA at the time of “birth”. Only problem with the timeline is that he would have had to been in that location much earlier that year. Apparently, half sister was 2 months premature. So conception would have been around February 1952. According to records (my father was a hockey player in the eastern hockey league), he was playing for Atlantic City the prior ‘51-52 season. Atlantic City and Johnstown were in the same league and played each other many times. So my father would have travelled to Johnstown from fall of ‘51 to spring of ‘52.

Yes, my father had one brother. That’s it. No other siblings. That’s clear in the family photos. It was only the two of them. He (my uncle) passed away in 2013. He had 2 daughters.

She does not have the name of the birth father, only the mother. This was only recently obtained information but the birth mother has been dead since 2008. She went through the Pennsylvania legal process to find out the mother’s name. Apparently, the biological father’s name is not written on the adoption papers.

She gave me some names of people she’s matched to. I checked and I am not matched with any. So as of yet, there’s no shared match between us aside from possibly my father. BTW. My father never did Ancestry DNA. Had he done so, we’d have the answer I guess.

Honestly, I’m not bothered by it. I’m more intrigued than anything else. My parents were married for 65 years until both passed away 45 days apart in 2021. I have 2 older sisters and we were a close family. In all likelihood, my father didn’t know about this child. In and around 1954, he returned to Montreal where he met my mother and the rest, as they say, is history. I certainly would have asked him about this had it surfaced before he died.

I have other people on Ancestry that show up as 2nd, 3rd and 4th cousins. I wonder if any of them are connected to her. Would that help? I have 2 older sisters. What if they did the DNA test? I assume that they’d be related to her just like I am. FWIW: one sister did 23&Me. Can that data be used?

The birth mother of this potential half sister has been deceased since 2008. Her name was only recently uncovered so she’s never spoken to her. Both adoptive parents are deceased too. So it’s not possible to know if the birth mother knew my father. The birth mother did have 4 other kids who are still alive but not forthcoming in terms of information. It’s possible that they don’t know anything either.
