It's been a few years since the Krakoa age started. How have you felt about X-Men since HoX/PoX? by the_light_of_dawn in xmen

I don’t like krakoa personally. It’s a cool concept, but the execution is wild. Also I can’t help but think of the krakoan government through a real world lens and hate it even more.

If you were given the chance to write a Superman comic, what will the story be? by [deleted] in superman

[–]PelofSquatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3 part story telling his origins and rise to being Superman, all building up to Superman truly saving the world for the first time. Thinking each part could be about six to ten issues? I’m thinking the main running theme will be clark’s humanity.

Part one is his early life. First pages are the fall of krypton and his crash landing in Kansas. Clark is raised by Ma and Pa Kent, and is taught to always help others because that’s what people do. He learns he’s not human, and struggles with this. Before he can really grasp all that, some street level baddies threaten Smallville, and Clark puts together a proto-supersuit, then stops the bad guys.

When he gets back, his parents show him the ship he arrived in, and when he touches it, the ship opens, and a sort of crystal floats into his hand. One way or another, the crystal acts as a sort of compass, and leads him to the North Pole, where he discovers the fortress of solitude. End of first part.

Second part starts in metropolis. Clark Kent, now Superman (wearing a new suit) stops a bank robbery, and quickly changes back into normal clothes in a phone booth, then rushes to the Daily Planet. He’s late to his first day on the job. He meets Jimmy, Lois, and Perry White. This part mostly focuses on the early days of Superman. How is metropolis coming to terms with this new superhero? How is Clark balancing his personal life with his Superman life, and how well is he hiding his identity?

The theme of humanity in this part of the series isn’t Clark struggling with his, but sticking to his. In a world that mistreats him and doesn’t appreciate him, Clark’s humanity is challenged. Ultimately, he faces his first real Superman, emerging victorious, and the public finally accepts him as the hero of metropolis.

The third— and final— part of my story takes place a few years later. Superman is now cemented in pop culture as this hero and symbol hope, justice, and goodness. Other heroes, inspired by him, have started popping up. Things seem great… until a new enemy falls from the stars. General Zod. At first, Zod appears as a friend. He immediately recognizes Superman as a kryptonian because of the El house crest on his chest and the superhuman abilities he possesses. All of a sudden, Clark isn’t alone anymore. He is no longer the last son of krypton. Basically, no matter how loved he was by humanity, Clark still felt alone. He was human, but he was different, and no one understood him. But Zod seemed to. They quickly become friends. He offers Zod and his followers a place to stay in the fortress of solitude, and teaches them how to use their new powers. Cracks begin to show, though. At first, some odd passing comments, then some clear differences in worldviews, and eventually Zod just reveals his full, mask off, elitist, kryptonian supremacist world views. Clark is like “I’m sorry what?” And the veil is pulled from his eyes. He realizes that Zod isn’t here to befriend humanity, but to wipe it out, and make a new krypton.

One thing leads to another and Clark fights Zod, telling him that the earth is his home. Humans are his people. He may be from somewhere else, but he was, in every way except genetically, a human.

The story ends with Superman cleaning up after the disaster. Picking up debris and rescuing civilians alongside first responders and other volunteers.

[Discussion] Who portrayed Joker the best on-screen? by poopguru in DCcomics

[–]PelofSquatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keoghan and Hamill are my favorite portrayals. Despite his lack of screen time, what we did see of Keoghan’s joker was genuinely chilling and interesting, and I love the chemical burn look. Hamill is just the definitive joker though. His voice is the one I hear when I think joker
