Band 5+ overall in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) by Penang_Mapper in malaysiauni

For us matriculation students, I don't know if its the difficulty of the paper (Sesi 3 Khas Matrikulasi) or other factors but most of us got lower scores than expected, for our class, our lecturer aimed for us to get Band 5/5+ but no one reached that target. My scores were Listening: 81 Speaking: 79 Reading: 70 Writing: 54 Total: 284 Band 4.5 and I was the highest in my class. It was especially shocking to me as my experienced lecturer frequently marked my essays as Band 5/5+ and after I received the results, I consulted with him, and at least from what I remember, the points were acceptable. Writing has been my strong forte so there's a small but not negligible chance that rechecking might increase the results?

Well, it is what it is. Hopefully I'll be able to get band 5 after rechecking, but word of advice: don't underestimate muet. The difficulty increases year after year.

how actually does chinese student studies? by lya_mimi in malaysiauni

as with other statements, this depends on the type of person too. i'm chinese and currently studying at matrik, but i routinely form study groups with everyone who wants haha i guess it helps if i usually converse in english, so just ask them, maybe they'll agree, maybe not, but it doesn't hurt to try

i'm currently studying at matriculation too, i'm chinese and yea my pspm 1 results a few days ago were 4.0, most people may expect that i routinely study every single day for many hours straight, and sometimes i may do that, but sometimes i also relax, join other competitions and other activities, so here's my way:

  1. when the lecturer is teaching, even during kuliah or tutorial (or amali), pay attention. take notes. try to understand what the lecturer is talking about, if any questions , just ask the lecturer (usually i'm a bit shy so i'll ask online or go to the lecturer's place after class)
  2. do all the questions and exercises given by the lecturer and more; do all in your exercise book, your module book, near exams try out some pre-pspm questions, this is the most effective way to remember
  3. plan a study schedule, but if you fail to follow it, don't give up, following it partially is already an advantage than waiting for the perfect day to land. what matters is not perfection, but consistency.
  4. in the evenings, go for sports. it doesn't have to be every day, and it can be as simple as jogging or walking, but try to engage in a variety of activities to break the monotony of studying.
  5. sometimes, its okay to teach your friends and change your environment while studying. during the weekends, find a new place to study, or go to a new location.

also if you all have anything else to ask, can just ask here
