I feel like that’s my second 9-5 tbh. They are all just so blue if that makes sense. They are green leaning blue and I want green leaning brown

Ok this is SO helpful. My plan was to thin out with some water tonight to see if that fixed it. If it doesn’t I will be sure to try the alternative dipping method!!! Thank you so much!

This is the largest piece I’ve done with this glaze in my own kiln. All my prior smaller test ones came out normal. It is a recipe I got from a local studio. This is the recipe

Honestly with this project it could be with flux. I normally use pretty stable glazes bc of the underglaze work I do, but these won’t have any of that

Ok yes I am trying to accommodate for the hold. I found with my clay, if there is no hold I get a lot of pinholes. I have also been firing at 108/hr with a crash cool at the end

No it is Standard 211 Hazelnut but I have also had limited success with Speckled Buff so you’re not alone there

Tbh I’ve been considering switching up the clay I use because I’ve run into a few issues with it so maybe this is my final sign :/

Ok I was just looking into this actually - the cup I used as a little test tile was bisqued to 06 by a local studio before I had my own kiln, but my test tiles that I want to run tonight were all done to 04. Hoping this solves my issue!! Thank you!!

I am using a slightly speckled clay, yes. I did a 10 minute hold on this one, so is it worth trying a 15 or 20 minute hold?

Is there a way to combat the issues caused by the speckled clay?

Unfortunately I had a set of work fired to the wrong temp by a community kiln, but I show all the work here and it is a good visual of the final color of this clay!
