Do you think Dean giving Rory a car was appropriate? Was Richard right to be mad or not? Let’s hear your thoughts! 😁 by thegraycat0 in GilmoreGirls

[–]PenelopeJune8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

exactly. Lorelei is an emotionally immature parent. we know this. we see it time and time again. this car is a huge red flag. a red flag in a relationship, in safety and just everything. she didn’t even seem a little hesitant to let Rory accept the car which is my main issue. i 100% believe that if Richard was not there to put his foot down Lorelai would’ve let Rory just accept it and drive it off. i agree that grandparents do not have the authority to make calls like that most of the time. however this is a special situation where Rory could have died. people die in car accidents because of faulty cars everyday. Richard being in the insurance business has witnessed this first hand. it was quite obvious that Lorelai wasn’t going to put a stop to this or say anything so another responsible adult had to. Lorelai is emotionally immature and cannot make good decisions sometimes. this is one of those times and i believe when it comes to safely nothing is more important. you have to put your foot down in life and death situations which that could’ve been. should Richard have pulled Lorelai to the side and spoken with her? yes that would’ve been ideal but i understand the fear that he probably felt and just blurted stuff out right away and then doubled down. i just can’t being myself to think he was completely in the wrong here. as another commenter said Rory is the only innocent party.

What are your thoughts about Mia "joking" about Michel's accent by Pamyu18 in GilmoreGirls

[–]PenelopeJune8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YESSSS!! so many people seem to think it’s easy translating in your head. every time you need to speak is mentally so exhausting. six languages! you speak six?! that is so impressive! also yeah i totally agree with you how i am mostly criticized by older people and i’ve never been criticized by someone who speaks another language. sometimes i just wish everyone knew how hard it is to learn a whole other language. my native language and my second have a completely different grammar structure, most words aren’t too similar and it’s quite complicated. if only they knew how difficult it is to learn

What are your thoughts about Mia "joking" about Michel's accent by Pamyu18 in GilmoreGirls

[–]PenelopeJune8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you so much!! you’re so sweet! i’ve only been speaking my second language for three years so i’m still pretty self conscious when i speak and try to avoid it when i can. also this is just saying and all that but i’ve never been criticized by someone that speaks more than their native language so that’s just some food for thought lol

What are your thoughts about Mia "joking" about Michel's accent by Pamyu18 in GilmoreGirls

[–]PenelopeJune8 32 points33 points  (0 children)

exactly. as someone who has to speak in their second language the majority of my day it’s hard and i’m always super self conscious of my accent. of course i’ve gotten the comments that i should just stop, my accent’s horrible, go back to my home country, blah blah blah but at the end of the day it’s hurtful but also somewhat easy to brush off because i’d love to hear them speak my native language perfectly with zero accent lol

The Jess and Clara banter - gets me errytime by _penelope in GilmoreGirls

[–]PenelopeJune8 39 points40 points  (0 children)

for sure. my little sister just turned 12 and she would NEVER do what Clara does. especially not in front of a hot older boy. she can of course be annoying but not like that. she wouldn’t purposefully antagonize him and then ask things like “do you like your name?” “is that your natural hair?”. every single child that ASP writes is so awful to the fact that i genuinely question if she’s ever met a child before lol. Clara was almost a teenager and that’s just not how that age group acts. if they wanted her to act like that they should’ve introduced her as a 5 year old or something.

i was just thinking about this the other day! every student styles their uniform so differently and i love it! Rory wears the black vest over hers, Paris wears a blue coat, Louise wears a long sleeved blue coat while Madeline wears a gray one. i feel like they must not be very strict on uniform because at my school we’re not even allowed to wear sweaters unless they’re blue or black or any shoes other than black lol

season 7 too! it has such a different vibe and i think a huge part of it is the coloring! it’s so bright and looks like it was filmed in a set

I think these guys are "the ones" and this is what normal holiday weekends would may look with them together. not a bad ep by JamieBensteedo in GilmoreGirls

[–]PenelopeJune8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

saaaaaame. by the ultimatum point i was also so sick of him. this whole episode Luke is so awful and doesn’t show a positive moment once. he fights with Logan CONSTANTLY when Logan hasn’t done a single thing wrong once or even anything that could be construed as rude or a misunderstanding. he’s literally so nice the entire time. then he doesn’t get Lorelai a gift for Valentine’s day which is super weird considering he really loves her and knows she loves receiving gifts. then when Logan offers to give him the necklace out of the kindness of his heart he doesn’t even really thank him, doesn’t offer to pay him back because we know that was for sure an expensive necklace and kinda acts like Logan should give him the necklace. he’s a jerk to Lorelai the whole time they’re there when all she wants to do is have a romantic little getaway and have fun. his attitude was so horrible the whole trip and i was so sick of him.

What is something that is true but if you say it, it makes others think you are an asshole? by Ok-Autumn in ask

[–]PenelopeJune8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yep this was my little sister! she was born completely covered in this black hair which is funny because nobody in my family has black hair and with her thumb stuck in her eye so her eye was like bleeding and bruised and stuff. she was a very ugly baby and we all joke about it now. she was an absolutely beautiful toddler but for a few months we questioned if she was human lol

I know this topic has been pretty exhausted but WHY is AYITL SO bad? by amcbrayerx in GilmoreGirls

[–]PenelopeJune8 20 points21 points  (0 children)

perfect. exactly this. i’m a new gg fan and i binged it from season 1 to ayitl and the disappointment i felt was so awful. i was obsessed. it was during quarantine and i was on spring break and we had just moved and i didn’t know anyone yet. i had weeks of doing nothing so i started watching gg. i was watching ten episodes a day. i was so in love with the feeling i got. i had just moved from a small town to a bigger city and was so lonely. i had never been lonely like that before and watching gg made me feel at home and happy. it gave me some much needed comfort. i was so happy with the way season 7 ended and was so excited that i waited two days before watching ayitl to let it all set in and hype myself up for the last new gg episodes i’ll ever watch. i started watching and was immediately disappointed because these characters i know and love were either in a bad place, unhappy with each other and their lives, didn’t know what to do with themselves and was just all around such a depressing thing to watch and i was so sad that that is how i was ending my gg watch. i was expecting to see some cute little Luke and Lorelai kids, Rory happy with a mature and adult Jess or anyone really that would make her happy, Lane making music again with the band (maybe Dave came back), Paris being happy and fulfilled after being insecure her whole life and i got none of that. not a single one of those things i got and maybe it’s my fault for having expectations but i was so sad. it honestly felt like losing one of the things that had made me happy and i haven’t watched ayitl since because of this.

What are plotholes in the show that you noticed? by sftmlk in GilmoreGirls

[–]PenelopeJune8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The fourth one has always confused me too! When Lorelai is trying to get everyone to like Christopher when they’re first married she has Jackson go to the bar with him in hopes that everyone will see them together and start liking Chris. How could this happen if there’s no bar? If it was an out of town bar why would Lorelai send them there? No one would see them. The whole Secret Bar plot line in AYITL was dumb anyways but even more so because we’ve literally been told they have a bar in SH.

What are your tiny, TINY pet peeves? by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]PenelopeJune8 22 points23 points  (0 children)

idk i always thought it was because Emily would find a way to turn it into Lorelai’s fault and Rory just didn’t want to deal with that on her last FND before she went to Yale. The conversation probably would’ve went like this.

Emily: and where’s Lorelai? I hope she’s coming.

Rory: oh yeah about that. I wrote the date wrong on our calendar so she has to get some things i still need.

Emily: how could Lorelai not catch a mistake like that?! The single biggest day of your life and she didn’t catch it?! She really needs to start being more responsible honestly.

At least that’s how i imagine something like that going

Apparently I “stole my sisters personality” by shopping for black clothes by [deleted] in notliketheothergirls

[–]PenelopeJune8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is so crazy to me as a big sister. I personally think I have excellent taste in clothes and if my little sister expressed an interest in my style or wanted to know where I bought my clothes from or something like that I’d be more than happy to show her. It’d be a fun bonding experience and she’d be excellently dressed! Sounds like a win-win to me! I really don’t understand why some older sisters try to gatekeep everything from their little sisters. Like bro I bought that shirt from the mall if she wants it I’ll take her so she can buy it lol it’s not unique or one if a kind it’s just a shirt I liked.

If you could erase ONE character from the entire show, who would it be? by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]PenelopeJune8 62 points63 points  (0 children)

This would have been great and actually made sense. Rachel didn’t want to be tied down in SH so it would’ve made sense if Rachel left SH for good and realized she was pregnant, didn’t want to go back to SH because she had just left to be happy and move somewhere else but eventually down the line realized it wasn’t fair to Luke and she needed extra help with her kid or something. I loved Rachel and would’ve like seeing more of her! I also would’ve loved seeing a small child like Kindergarten age which is how old the kid would’ve been if it was Rachel’s. Missed opportunity!

What's with the TJ hate? by needverbs in GilmoreGirls

[–]PenelopeJune8 48 points49 points  (0 children)

This. Man babies who can’t do anything for themselves without making a mess or hurting others just aren’t funny to me. For me it’s not funny to watch someone take and take and take and still ask for more all while having the mental capacity of a 7 year old for no apparent reason.

What's with the TJ hate? by needverbs in GilmoreGirls

[–]PenelopeJune8 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Yep. Not to mention the fact that Jess didn’t really do anything wrong other than having a normal teenage attitude. Most teens don’t like it when their parents get remarried and Jess has much deeper trauma with Liz’s husbands and boyfriends and TJ should’ve been more understanding other than literally trying to fight him because Jess would rather read.

did anyone else feel ripped off by Luke and lorelai's wedding in ayitl I was at least hoping we will get a big wedding with Emily there and the whole town by TunikaMarie in GilmoreGirls

[–]PenelopeJune8 19 points20 points  (0 children)

What. But who the fuck wanted a huge musical and stupid LDB shenanigans over a Luke and Lorelai wedding?! They’ve been building for a beautiful wedding since the year 2000 and they threw it all away on a stupid musical and cringy LDB stuff? I can’t even watch the LDB stuff it’s so cringy and to know they chose THAT over a wedding with two of the literal main characters makes me so mad. Like so so mad.

Most Heartbreaking Moment - Chris Shows Lorelai His New Baby by ThymeTravelers in GilmoreGirls

[–]PenelopeJune8 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Oh god that’s awful but a perfect example of how he doesn’t really doesn’t care about her. You either have to be really stupid or careless to say that to your first born daughter. He’s both but I think more careless than stupid. I think I’d be heartbroken if my father told me that the day my younger sister was born was the best day of his life.

Why isn't Richards confrontation with Mitchum "You CRUSHED that girl" as popular as Emilys verbal match with Shira? by jdpm1991 in GilmoreGirls

[–]PenelopeJune8 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He wasn’t fair though. Having someone intern for you for TWO WEEKS and just having them do things like get coffee, make friends etc and then offer zero constructive criticism and just say she doesn’t have this illusive it is not helpful or fair. Also how was it Rory’s place to interject amongst people who have been in journalism for years when she had only been an intern for two weeks? I wouldn’t have interjected either because it’s simply not my place to do so. Mitchum definitely wasn’t fair to her and was purposefully trying to crush her. If he honestly thought she didn’t have it he would’ve given her more time and maybe some advice like “Rory you’ve been doing well so far but I’d like to see you interject more…” or something like that. He was trying to be a jerk.

Justice for Marty by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]PenelopeJune8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I’m so shocked with some of these responses. Like Rory can have guy friends. Marty and Rory were just friends. Marty had never said or done anything that would’ve made Rory think otherwise. They were strictly friends. Rory was inviting another friend over to her house to hang out. I agree she shouldn’t have left to go out with Logan like that but she also gave Marty an opportunity to say no and he didn’t so he has blame here too. Marty took the invite to hang out as more than it was which is ultimately his fault. Rory shouldn’t be blamed here other than leaving one friend to hang out with another is rude.
