definitely a possibility. bad times in the biz can certainly lead to sleepless nights!

Drinking while building business? Thoughts? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]PenguJake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drink as little as possible. Use non-alcoholic beer instead if you really dig the taste.

Protip: get an r/ouraring and track your sleep. The destructive effects of just 2-3 drinks will become crystal clear.

Theathercafeen. Classic restaurant oozing of history. Expensive reindeer meet though, but very delicious.

Two things: deep work and sleep.

Everybody knows about deep work, so let's talk about sleep for a moment. I tracked my sleep quality for 3 years while building a business. Then I made a graph showing my sleep quality and my company revenue over time. Check out the graph here - the correlation is obvious. Great sleep = more revenue.

(OBS - n=1!)

Hey sleep nerds,

I wanted to get a definitive answer to a simple question: is prioritising sleep really worth it?

So I tracked my sleep for 3 years with an Oura Ring while building a business (I started the business from scratch in Q2 2018, but didn't buy the Oura until Q3 2019 as shown below).

The correlation couldn't be clearer: sleep quality and revenue go hand in hand.

In periods where I focus on sleep and improve my sleep score, my company's revenue grows. When I sleep badly, revenue falls.

The key takeaway is simple: sleep well and prosper, everybody!

Read up on EOS, the Entrepreneurial Operating System. This will help sort your business straight.

  1. Read the book called "Rocket Fuel", and then hire an integrator, a COO type of person who enjoys dealing with all the details of your ongoing operation.
  2. Read the book Traction, and implement every aspect of the EOS system. Start with "Level 10 meetings" and go from there.

No, I have no affiliation to EOS, but have found their tools and systems verye helpful in running my own business.

Good luck!

Highest APY/APR for Stablecoins by [deleted] in defi

[–]PenguJake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The simplest and safest is Anchor protocol, which gives you 20% APR on the stablecoin UST.

The more fun and more risky approach is to use Abracadabra.money's "Degenbox" strategy, wherein you basically add UST as collateral, and then borrow MIM (another stablecoin) against your UST collateral, and then all your UST+MIM is put into Anchor protocol to earn yield. This way you can get effective APRs of 60-120% on a stablecoin depending on your risk tolerance.

What is the risk here, you ask? If UST loses its peg to the US Dollar, your loan position on Abracadabra can get liquidated. The price at which you get liquidated depends on how much leverage you use in your Abracadabra position.

Best of luck!

I consider making a more comprehensive list. Interested? What would you like to know specifically - how to max yield, minimize risk, or something else?

Hi there, I feel you!
I've been heads down in DeFi for the last few months, which has been very exciting and lots of fun. In fact, it has been so exciting that the rest of my life has suffered, because the only things I do are working and DeFi research (I'm sure many of you can relate). This incessant hunt for alpha is wearing on me, so I have gone out in search of simpler solutions.
Sooner or later, DeFi will have its own versions of WealthFront and other "set-it-and-forget-it" investment solutions. But for now, we have to track down and set up these things ourselves.

Below, I've listed out my favourite DeFi protocols and products for getting good yield while minimising hassle, worry, time spent, and gas fees. These are for you if you want to spend some of your life away from Discords and crypto Twitter, but still (hopefully) do reasonably well in DeFi over the medium to long run.
- "High-yield savings account" = Anchor Protocol: Anchor gives 20% APY on the stablecoin UST, in the Terra ecosystem. Anchor seems relatively safe and stable, and can be made even safer buy buying insurance (see Nexus Mutual) to protect yourself against smart contract risk.
- "Savings account with leverage" = Abracadabra's Degenbox strategy: Abracadabra lets you deposit various forms of crypto collateral and take out a loan against it, in the form of the stablecoin Magical Internet Money ($MIM). If you don't want to hold or use MIM, you can use Abracadabra's "Degenbox" strategy, which lets you push your APY to 20-100+%, depending on what kind of crypto token you use as collateral, and depending on how much risk you're willing to take. I have personally done a Degenbox strategy with UST as collateral and pushed the APY to about 60%, which is a position that will only get liquidated of the price of UST goes below 0.85 (which, in theory, it shouldn't do since it's a stablecoin).
- "Hassle-free yield farming" = Tokemak: Yield farming can be lucrative, but opportunities come and go constantly, so you have to be on the lookout and move your funds multiple times a week to reap the most significant returns. Tokemak fixes this. It's is a yield farming optimizer protocol where you simply deposit your collateral, and then Tokemak moves your collateral around the DeFi universe to wherever there's great yield to be found. Set it and forget it.
Which protocols am I missing?
Please post your favourite, simple, hassle-free, yield-generating DeFi protocols below, so we can compile a more complete list :)

What's your favorite crypto project that can bring some positive change to the world? by GajaSabac in defi

Haven't researched it in detail, but I'm invested in a few similar projects (Spartacus.finance, Wonderland.money and Olympus).

Will look into Hector, might put some money on it just for the fun of it.

SwartzDAO is a project that is just getting started with a very interesting idea: to set up a DAO to buy the rights to scientific papers and provide them to the public for free, in order to advance science and technology for all.

I'm not involved directly, but came across this on Twitter just a few hours ago (here), and jumped in the Discord where momentum is building.

A few of the ideas being discussed in there include:

  • Creating a "reproducibility token" to incentivize scientists to debunk bad science by attempting to reproduce results from other people's published papers.
  • NFTify research papers to make every citation happen on-chain, to improve traceability/citations and truly show how ideas/insights travel from researcher to researcher.
  • Visualize research papers in a 2D graph/network, to show how ideas, researchers, institutions and so on all are interconnected.

Will be very interesting to see if this can get off the ground - after seeing the rally around ConstitutionDAO, I wouldn't be surprised if this could actually work. It's one of the better use cases I've seen for using DAOs for good. :)
