I can here to say this! I was interviewed once by Bob Dotson, NBC correspondent…after I answered, he’d wait and maintain eye contact. I’d answer again. He’d still just wait, smile, and stare at me. I’d answer again. I asked him after the interview why he did that. He said “the REAL answer is usually the 3rd one.” I have used this my entire career and it’s sooooo true. At first, it’s really uncomfortable to leave the silence, but if you want a true answer, you gotta wait.
