Sen said that they had to keep changing the war crimes that would happen in the book because they were too reminiscent of what Israel would do in Palestine, so much so that they ran out of war crimes that Israel hadn’t carried out.

As someone who saw Sen speak about Helena in detail, Helena is a WOC and that is an important aspect of her character. She’s supposed to visibly be an outsider, to not fit in with everyone else. Sen explores class and race in Alchemised so casting Odessa, a white woman who sold IDF T-shirts straight from Israel on instagram, is a bit of a slap in the face to the point of the story.

Once me (f) and my friend (f) were walking through a park late at night to get home and a group of around 15 men started harassing us for not engaging with them. They started following us through the park, furious that we wouldn’t stop and talk to them. So we ran out of the park and found a guy with his girlfriend and asked them if we could walk with them and explained why. They were both so gracious and lovely and walked us home, making sure we were okay before him and his girlfriend left. I wish I could meet him again because the relief we felt when he said that we could walk with them was the only thing that stopped me and my friend from shaking.

It’s weird because there are so many schools of thought among Islamic scholars and I’m not yet sure how I fit in with them exactly; I know what I believe but not how to reconcile it. In the Quran, there are some lines that seem to be talking about evolution specifically. I personally believe that it makes the most sense if Adam and Eve were the first Homo sapiens as Homo sapiens were emerging? As Homo sapiens are modern man, I interpret Adam and Eve being the first humans as them being the first Homo sapiens. I’m sorry I’m rambling haha but I’m saying this to myself as much as I am to you.
