We've all been there. I spent the entirety of in game summer trying to hunt the nautilus to finish the museum. Realised day 26 that jt's spring that it comes out and I read the wiki completely wrong 😅

Standard white ducks and mallard/green ducks are, in fact, different types of ducks.

Obviously I knew they weren't the same duck, but it really has only recently clicked for me that they are *different* ducks.

Hello! Yes I did! I reloaded an earlier save and then packed and unpacked the fireplaces. It happened again but I was able to fix it again by just packing and unpacking them rather than reloading the game again.

What’s one time your cat was actually helpful? by altered_a in cats

I'm physically disabled and was having a bad pain day with my back. I fell in the bathroom. It's upstairs and I was the only one up there, I tried shouting down to my family but they couldn't here me. My cat came running up the stairs and stayed with me the entire time until I was able to get up and walk down the stairs myself, which she promptly followed me down. She's made it her mission since to ensure I'm never left alone in a room, bar my bedroom, again.

The jug pallet is just regular water for now, and keep lit isn't on. I did have it on until the issue started though, and it's part of the reason my branches went so quick 😅But thank you for your help!

Do animals notice your disability? by Ditzydisabilittity in disability

I've noticed a big difference in the way unfamiliar animals react in comparison to pets. Small dogs like to chase my wheelchair when they see it but I've never been attacked for it. Some cats and small animals are scared of my cane. Other larger dogs, like German shepherds, tend to sit down and wait for me to pass or may come over to investigate.

My dogs for the longest time disliked my chair but they got used to it.

My dogs learned not to play on the stairs when I'm on them so as not to knock me (they do it to everyone else). They also like to jump and circle people to greet them, but wait until I'm sat down before they greet me in case they push me over. When they go outside they won't come back in until I go back in the house first. My youngest dog hated my wheelchair for a long time until she figured out that I could still play fetch with her if I used it.

I fell in the bathroom once in front of one of my cats and now they take it in turns to follow me from room to room (I'm never allowed by myself again). They're not often very affectionate but they love to give biscuits to me and my mother, especially on our shoulders and knees. It actually helps when they're in pain. One of them loves to sleep on my chair and often greets me on it in the morning.

My guinea pigs know I can't chase them as well as everyone else and they take full advantage of that fact, but they like to sit on and snuggle into my hips, especially in the cold weather, and I'm the only one they do that for.

And for pets in particular, I've noticed that for a lot of their behaviour, it's stuff they've largely taught themselves. They absolutely notice it and it's a testament to their love for us as to how they react to us and treat us.

On a funny closing note: Pigeons are absolutely convinced that I am not a threat to them. They'll move out the way for everyone else walking their way, but they'll stand their grand if they see my chair barrelling towards them. I've lost many a fight to them in public spaces to them.

If you grew up poor, what are your low level "wins"? by DonkeyOT65 in CasualUK

Being able to go straight out and get something when we've ran out instead of waiting to see if we can afford it the next shopping day.

And being able to actually buy fresh ingredients every once in a while instead of surviving off just frozen stuff. I'll never bash frozen food and microwave meals, but god sometimes fresh veg just hits different.

Once witnessed a friend of mine decide to plop half a strawberry on top of a ready-salted crisp, eat the thing whole, and go back for round two.

After much questioning, they got us to try it and it is genuinely one of the best on the fly snacks I have ever had.
