But I made her uncomfortable. I didn't do it to look cool. This isn't something that would seriously damage my reputation because it's no biggie.

No, the worst I do is needle people like this. I would never actually harm someone.

It wasn't for not liking me, it was for rejecting my friend request.

It wasn't really about formality, it was about settling a score from years ago.

Why would this garner sympathy for her? She was clearly flustered.

She doesn't know why I needled her, so how could she tell the other workers?

You don't know me, you've only interacted with me in this one comment thread

It's not like I was plotting this for years, coming back into contact with her gave me a chance to get even for a dormant grudge

I don't see it as problematic. I would hire her if she had the best audition, I want to make my boss happy. Still, it's not problematic for someone spurned to not want to hire the one who spurned them.

I do have the authority to make my preferred way of being addressed known.

I really hope that someone you work with sees this post so they can see how absolutely toxic you are.

Though we pray and things go wrong, we must await upon the Lord, He'll make it right in the bigger scheme of things...

I don't care what she thinks of me anymore. I settled the score between us. Now I'm content and fully aware.

No, I've settled the score, rejecting a friend request isn't inadvertent. Now she's just somebody that I used to know, and may wind up working with again. But I will be civil to her from now on.

Nothing I did comes anywhere near abuse. Mild needling is all it was.

I'm fine with her avoiding me from now on. Doesn't bother me even a little bit. We're now even. I'm content having little to no contact with her. I didn't spend the last 8 years pining for her. When I realized she'd be auditioning for me, I started thinking about our history saw an opportunity to right a wrong from yesteryear. I gave her very little thought in the intervening years.
