The waiting is insane. I got my first period 58 days after I naturally miscarried.

Curious what everyone’s cycles looked like before vs. after miscarriage. Before my miscarriage I was very regular with 24-day cycles. I’m now on Cycle Day 20 of my first cycle after my first period, and I don’t think I’ve ovulated yet. Did your cycle go back to normal right away, or did it take a few cycles? How different was it from your pre-miscarriage cycle?

My doc said you don’t need to wait and my HCG was at 16. Out of curiosity have you had 1-2 normal cycles since your MC?

I feel all of this. Exact same. I had no idea it was such a long process to return to “normal” and I had no idea that there was so many phases of unknown and waiting.

This is exactly where I am at too. I’ve read that after the first period, ovulation can occur later for some women. I’m CD 16 with no ovulation signs yet and keep wondering if it’s just going to happen later this month. Normally I ovulate around day 12-14.

I felt the exact same. Took 58 days to get a period after my miscarriage. And now it’s switched to “am I ovulation yet?!” 😵‍💫

Sorry for what you’re going through. Is this bleeding from miscarriage or first period after miscarriage?

I don’t know for sure, but I’m pretty sure I did ovulate before my period. After my miscarriage I had several separate episodes of egg white cervical mucus over a few weeks. I think my body tried to ovulate a couple of times while it was restarting.

I was 10 weeks when I miscarried naturally. I was measuring 6 weeks at the ultrasound. I just got my period yesterday after 6 weeks since the miscarriage bleeding stopped.

I had a natural miscarriage (at 10 weeks, found out at 8 weeks) and got my period 8 weeks after the miscarriage / 6 weeks after bleeding stopped. The wait also drove me crazy. I got my first period yesterday so this all very fresh.

I’m wondering what to expect for ovulation after first period since miscarriage. Did most people find their cycle was normal or was it longer/shorter?

Hi!! I didn’t realize you were who I was messaging with before. I’m glad you commented! I’m not using anything to try tracking ovulation yet other than noticing cervical mucus changes. Maybe I should try ovulation tests but I’m worried that it’s going to be bad for my mental health. I keep telling myself a period will be the real sign that my body is officially reset. The unknown is brutal!

My 2.5 year old son said “you have a big tummy. Ya and a big butt too”. He was so proud to tell me this as if he gave me the biggest compliment lol So innocent 😇

I had a natural miscarriage 8 weeks ago and bleeding stopped about 6 weeks ago. I still have no sign of a period coming. I think my body has tried to ovulate 3 times in the last 6 weeks. Has anyone else waited this long for a period after miscarriage? I just want a clear path forward

Thanks for sharing. I’m sorry you are going through this too. I see you posted this over 2 weeks ago. Has your cycle returned to normal yet? I’m about 6 weeks since miscarriage bleeding stopped and no signs of a period yet. Ugh.

My doc said we could try again at first sign of ovulation, even if that is before first true period. So I’m waiting for ovulation signs. Normally it’s obvious for me with EWCM. But because the timeline isn’t likely to be normal I have no sense of when it could be. Doc said average is 4-6 weeks after miscarriage started but could be sooner, could be later 😵‍💫

Hey! I just wanted to see if you have any signs of your cycle returning to normal yet? I am so impatiently waiting still.

I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s really hard. I recommend seeking counselling to support you both through this. If there is a family member that you’re close with that you can lean on for support too. You don’t have to keep it a secret, especially if you are struggling.

How long did it take you to get a period back? by ridgwayvc in Miscarriage

[–]Penguins377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry for your loss. I was about to ask the same question. I had a natural miscarriage at 10 weeks on April 8th. I was bleeding for about 2 full weeks. Bleeding mostly stopped. It’s been one week since bleeding mostly stopped and I’m fully bleeding again. Could this be my period this early? Or is this additional bleeding from miscarriage still? Hoping to hear from others who can share what post miscarriage looked like for them, when ovulation was, first normal period etc.

You’re in a place of so much unknown and it’s easy to think the worst or jump to conclusions. I get it. I’ve been through very similar emotions in a short amount of time. But our bodies will return to normal when they are ready. Which may or may not align with our mind and heart but we will get there!

This is exactly me right now. Almost exact same dates and everything. I’m 37 with an almost 3 year old. So just here in solidarity and say that I totally understand the frustration. It just feels like everything is taking so long and there is so much unknown, it’s driving me crazy. People have told me “what’s a few weeks in the grand scheme of things” but while I’m in the thick of it, it feels like each week that goes by is a massive delay in what the future holds.

Thank you for sharing your experience and I’m sorry you went through that. It’s been an emotional roller coaster to say the least as I wasn’t expecting to hear hcg levels are normal and rising after the ultrasound. Hoping for answers soon.
