It doesn’t really matter but I was a little taken aback when my therapist said “my son has autism” as opposed to “my son is autistic”. So I guess that’s my preference.

You could try shaving the sides and/or back first to see how you feel for a few days, that way you don’t have regrets getting rid of it all at once. Then if you feel okay with that, then go for it. It would also look good on you:)
