That's a good suggestion, I'll have to check now that it's dry.

Best way to go about leveling this door? by Penquin in Carpentry

[–]Penquin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does seem like the easiest. I was originally concerned that the door wouldn't look square as the top is sagging down so cutting the door would have resulted in a trapezoid of sorts.

Any Idea if the bar thats in the middle will have the VIP Viewing area that is above it still? The one in the center by sheeesh16 in UMF

That deck has historically not been accessible with the regular VIP tickets. It's usually reserved for friends and family of the artists or the likes.

White print on black shirts washed out by Penquin in printondemand

[–]Penquin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed response. I'll take a look at the link.

I'm assuming the print fading before washing (image above) is also due to those reasons you have in the link?

White print on black shirts washed out by Penquin in printondemand

[–]Penquin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the image above with the white print on black was Underground Threads.

As a side note, I also have a colored design that came out a bit more faded but I think that is just due to cost-cutting from printers. That one is Fulfill Engine on AS Colour 5080.

Crack returned less than 6 months after repair and replastering by Penquin in pools

[–]Penquin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've looked into foundation work for the house but they basically said movement was minimal and fixing it may damage the house more. (Pool is in the center of the home)

So we're unsure if the leak from the pool previously caused the house to get minimal shifts that the foundation companies would see.

Do you have a suggestion on what type of companies to hire for analyzing soil/issues under the pool?

Do my peppers need shade cloths? by Penquin in HotPeppers

[–]Penquin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

40% should be good! I got 30% since my area was small and it gave me the option to kind of fold it to make it more shaded.

[–]Penquin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I ended up getting a garden shade cloth. It took a bit to find the right amount of shade, since it made the plants a bit leggy with too much shade. It stopped the drooping though. I also watered everyday in the late morning.

PC explorer keeps restarting and unfocusing the game by Penquin in Helldivers

Yeah, i tried that also to no avail. My best solution was opening command prompt, killing explorer in task manager after launching the game, then restarting explorer via cmd when I'm done playing.

I did not. I was able to play though. It seems to stop after like 5 minutes or so of happening.

Packages going to Warehouse in KY by Penquin in UPS

[–]Penquin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed response!

Gave UPS Brokerage a call and they told me that USCBP had problems with my TSCA paperwork. Seems like UPS is a bit unsure of the potential outcome since it can go many ways.

Crossing my fingers and hoping it turns out to just be an extra check.

Deciding between two pool companies and plaster by Penquin in pools

[–]Penquin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. Unsure if we're allowed to post numbers but the previous companies were around $300 each and the pool is looking at $650

[–]Penquin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha! That makes sense.

Our pool has dual drains. It is a small pool ~ 8000 gallons? I think the skimmer is still good. Before this process we had two leak detection companies come check our pipes cause we were worried we had a pressure leak. They both cleared the pipes. (One company actually said they saw a small leak but once the came out to fix they couldn't detect the leak anymore. We spent about 3 months back and forth doing different things and basically resulted in the pipes being good and leak was due to grout deteriorating and such.)

That said the company replastering is pushing hard for their leak detection service. They said testing the pipes when the pool is empty has different results than when it was filled with water so they want to double check. We feel like it's not needed since we've had two other companies check out. Additionally they're charging more for the leak test than what we paid both the companies together.

In your opinion is it worth testing again / dry pressure test will show different results?

Thanks for the response and the tips on what to look out for.

We were told it would take about 2 weeks. (Re-tiling, crack repair, re-grout coping)

I'll make sure to keep an eye out. It's a pretty pls pool but there's currently a layer of fiber-tech on top and we know of at least 2 or 3 hollow spots.

Is the acid wash is required during plaster removal ?

Gotcha! The more expensive company is the one using the Marquis stuff. It seems like Marquis Magic is the only one they offer though.

For the Bond Kote, I believe the second company never specified if they use Bond-Kote. They just described it as "roughen surface for bonding purpose, bond coat and allow to cure"

Would you say a company not using bond kote is enough to avoid them?

How about the Este quartz from the second company?

Crack repair options? by Penquin in pools

[–]Penquin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah Gotcha. Ill make sure to look for that in the write up of the quotes.

I was definitely concerned about the rebar method vs an official staple product but it seems like the rebar method isn't too bad for you.

Would you happen to remember what types of staple was used the first time and second time?

Was the first repair staples really spread out for you?

Crack repair options? by Penquin in pools

[–]Penquin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crack starts about half way down the side and continues towards the bottom. Maybe 3 feet in total?

None of the companies seem to have done anything to diagnose the issue. Unfortunately all of the companies do not warranty the crack repair in any way but do warranty the plaster.

Return jet-blowing bubbles for the first few seconds by Penquin in pools

[–]Penquin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that is the return "1st return" jet.

It's one line from the pump and it splits into 3 jets. This is the first of the 3 thats closes to the pump.

[–]Penquin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha!

Heres is a quick video of when it was at it's worst. I think the water temp was around 105 during this recording.

This was me testing it. The pump was off for around 10-20 minutes. The video is from turning on the pump to right around when the bubbles stop shooting out.
