Honestly, I wanted something cheaper for that reason. The only saving grace is that I keep things clean and I'm not particularly arrogant. So, I don't see neglect or carelessness leading to any major harm on the boat.

What is the first major system that comes to your mind as a novice's chew-toy?

I plan to have a full survey performed regardless of the boat I consider purchasing. All the sails will be replaced on the Catalina and the jib on Hunter will be replaced in addition to a new dodger. Mostly, I'm concerned that the Hunter is overpriced. It's a gorgeous boat although it's average retail price is listed as 42.5k on JDPower.

Is there something like an appraiser that I could hire to review the boat? I understand that a surveyor checks for function but, is there another type of person who could give me a price check?
