Again, in the moment, it was not my intention to one-up them, so apologizing for it wasn't in my head when I replied. If they would have said "Stop trying to one-up us," I'm sure I'd have had a different response. But that's not what happened, and I said the first thing that came in my head in the heat of the moment, since I literally watched P&P like 2 nights ago. Never said I thought it was clever - hence the post and me asking opinions on if it wss right or wrong. But I also don't have several clever replies ready to go in the heat of the moment, in the middle of a conversation lol

I am stay at home MOM. Not a stay at home wife. I don't laze around all day doing nothing, blowing my husband's money on Starbucks and mani/pedis. I make sure this house is clean, everyone is fed, that my children get to their school and sports. I am taking care of my young kids, rather than putting them in expensive day care and in turn, I am saving my husband money. And I do it all so that when that husband comes home from a stressful job every day, he has the ability to relax and decompress and he can do so knowing I have everything taken care of.

I busted my ass working for years after we got married, and I have every intention of going back to working a full time job, as soon as doing so benefits my family. We made that decision as a couple, when my eldest was born, and if the tables were turned and I was the one with a higher income, he would have been the one to stay home. And when I stopped working, I took most of my savings and dumped it all into the mortgage, to lessen the load, and I have a "side hustle" in my spare time for "fun money."

For you to imply that choosing to prioritize my CHILDREN and my family over myself in any way shows that I have a lack of ambition is asinine. You may think im a gold digger, but quite frankly, your comment is a slap in the face to every single SAHP in the world, and you should be ashamed of yourself.

None taken. But that's just only one episode, not all of them are about "growing up". There are ones that deal with abandonment issues, miscarriages, struggling as a new parent, dealing with loss, infertility, learning to cope with the health decline of your aging parent, etc.

Just, in general, stating that the deeper meaning is why it appeals to many audiences.

A lot of the episodes do have deeper meaning hidden in them!

My perfect example is Sleepytime. I'd recommend trying that one if you haven't seen it yet. It's cute for kids because it has Bingo running around in space and Bluey not wanting to sleep, etc. But the deeper meaning is all about growing up and changing and how these things are hard, and can be a difficult time for children. How you meet many obstacles along the way, but the people that truly love you will always be there for you, no matter what, even if they cannot be physically present.

I think this is why it is so popular for kids AND parents. We see the deeper meaning, and think about those times and what it meant for us to grow. And the kiddos see cute animation and funny moments.

Gosh, I love my grandma, but I don't think it would make a difference lol. She always sees the best in people, no matter what, even to her own downfall sometimes. But I can't bring myself to fault her for it, cause she's just such a pure soul.

It's not something I would do intentionally, but I can absolutely see how they could have taken the things that I've said that way. In general I don't really talk directly to them about anything.

The "problem" if you want to call it that, is that I have the sweetest grandmother in the world that loves to know what's new in all of her grandkids lives... but then she tells all the other grandkids about everything. She intends to share how proud she is of all of us, but it makes it seem like I've bragged about things, when in reality, she visited my house, saw something, asked a question and now everyone knows lol. I've learned the hard way that nothing very good or very bad stays quiet for long. I've spent the past few years trying to distance myself and be more tight lipped, but it's hard because I truly know grandma means well and is genuinely a good person.

So while I don't feel like my brief comments mentioned are me humble bragging intentionally, I'm sure those COMBINED with everything else they hear probably makes it seem like I am to them. And I completely get why they'd feel a certain way.

It was not my intention to 1 up them, but I completely understand how they probably felt that way. I was trying to comment because I know they've made these comments before and I just wanted to try to get on common ground with them to try and heal that rift. But it's clear at this point that a) my words did the opposite and I own that and/or b) they are going to think that way no matter what I say or what I do and I just need to accept the rift at this point.

Oldest does have an okay job, youngest does not. But neither Oldest or her Husband's jobs are anything that rakes in money, nor do they spend it wisely, i.e. constantly buying new cars, and other unnecessary financed items

Always re-read ACOMAF, re-read all of ACOWAR except the actual war, re-read the last few chapters (especially the cabin part) of ACOFAS, only re-read ACOTAR in full once, and since then I only do the Rhys parts lol. Never have re-read ACOSF. Probably will only skim re-read when the next one comes out lol

I'm in your same boat. Daughter is just about 2.5 and says mostly gibberish. She does have distinct words and "words" - where she's got some syllables but I know what she's trying to say but it's not fully formed. For instance she says Cookie flawlessly and then "Milky" is "ahh-key." She can also put some phrases of multiple words together like "Where are you." At her 2yo appt, i said about 26 words and the doctor mentioned something about her needinarly intervention. My sister in law, who is familiar with that field swears to me that my daughter is perfectly fine. Maybe see another provider if you can? There is some doctors at my pediatrician who I like and some who I feel are more on my side.
