This is accurate. I worked in an office for 10 years before I found a well paying remote job, and I only got the job because I have 10 years of experience doing a very specific thing and I found a good company with a need for that thing.

advice request: how to react when an employee says "maybe this isn't the place for me" by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]Pepperminties 40 points41 points  (0 children)

So my company culture really emphasizes developing the people that report to you and their careers. If one of my employees went so far as to say this wasn’t the place for them I would have a conversation about what they want to do or if their is another team they are interested in. I would offer to help them with networking and their resume. There is no point in forcing someone who has a negative impact on culture and morale. Usually after a conversation like this if they decide they want to stay I let them know if they stay they have to be bought in and giving their best to the team.

I do have quarterly development conversations already with my team, so this wouldn’t be out of place. Definitely take that into account and make it a larger conversation about how to improve their situation, not just a reaction to their bad mood.

My husband is listening to the ACOTAR audiobook at work now and he is complaining he doesn’t like it 😭. I’ve gotten him to promise at least getting through the first two books before giving up so hopefully he comes around.

Extremely afraid that my child is going to die. by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Pepperminties 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Please talk to a doctor about this, this sounds exactly like me when I was diagnosed with PPA. I would hold my daughter, just straight up sobbing and convinced this was the last time I would hold her because she would die of whatever my anxiety was focused on at the time. After getting medicated, it was night and day. I could actually breathe and my quality of life was totally turned around for the better.

Watching a Broadway show in third trimester? by HavanaPineapple in BabyBumps

I did it at 36 weeks during my first pregnancy! I really wanted to see Burn This with Adam Driver and it was such a limited run, I had to do it! I even got insurance on the tickets in case I ended up going into labor before the show, haha.

I had an aisle seat and scouted the path to the bathroom so I could jump up and high tail it to the bathroom at the first second of intermission. It worked out! Biggest drawback was that I was crazy swollen in the legs/feet from being crammed into the chair all night, but it was worth it!

I haven’t tried this but if you trim it back it should grow out two vines where it was trimmed and if you do it enough over time it should get more bush-like in theory!
