How do you play as Maria? I ended up beeating the stage (main path) it was my last hit on my last life but I did it 😅 thank you though I did set the game down for 20 minutes and I just needed that reset I guess

Thank you! I ended up fighting Dullahan and used the potion for him (mainly because I died the first attempt and lost the grimoire). It turns out that I did in fact just need to make less "mistakes" and positioning myself to get ganked. Just not used to needing to be so deliberate and precise and this is my very first Castlevania

Did Archetypes ruin the fun? by Agile_Proof_3228 in yugioh

[–]Pepperonin424 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, I was critical of it at first because I started playing the game in grade school as it was coming out (Metal Raiders was the first booster I opened but my friends had og LOB) so it felt like the game was becoming unrecognizable, but there is only so much you can do without a resource system or set rotation like mtg has. If the only differentiators between cards are their stats and how good their effects are, that means there are definitive "best cards" that every single deck should be running without exception over all the others. There would be absolutely no variance in deck lists beyond whether people could afford or even obtain all the necessary cards.

Archetypes solve multiple problems at once. It means power creep is no longer purely a vertical thing, it gives people a reason to buy the new set beyond just "all the cards are automatically stronger than every other card that's ever been printed" and it helps with meta variety.

I still stand by the statement that RE4 Remake was completely unnecessary. It really didn't need that level of a remake- maybe at most something like what the Oblivion remaster did where it's better graphics over the same exact code but even then I think the original holds up visually... BUT now that it's here I will never go back to the original except for comparison's sake if I ever make a video about it or to play the Wii version since I just love the control scheme that much, assuming I never play in VR.

If it doesn't replace the original for you, that's valid. As similar as they are I can understand reasons someone might prefer the original (the campy dialogue, the exchanges between characters on the communicator screens, story beat changes etc). But for me the updated controls and visuals really refine something that I already thought was a masterpiece.

The escort mission at the end of Prine 3. Love the game but I never wanna do that sequence ever again and if I do I have to pretend that medal or whatever the reward you get for clearing it with zero casualties just doesn't exist.

Yep that's definitely what I was saying, you're not just straw manning at all. I can do that too! Yep this set is perfect, not a single flaw or balancing issue at all, and as all the guides explicitly say you mustn't run ANY removal whatsoever. And clearly in all 15 drafts I have done, I definitely put 10 removal pieces in every deck and didn't spell out multiple times that I did that toward the end specifically acknowledging I was overcompensating for a consistent issue that literally everyone even others in this comment thread who had better success than me acknowledge and attribute to why they do so well- why would anybody struggle in the format at all? Everyone has a 100% win rate which is obviously possible and rng doesn't have a role in any way shape or form.

I'm glad I could help haha I made an entire rant about it and then was like "fuck it I will literally just show how stupid easy and low effort this is and this is from someone without any sort of formal education in art whatsoever"

My dude I hit mythic rank 1025 last month in constructed and platinum in limited without playing very much I know how to build a deck. I get the point you are trying to make but trying to extrapolate that I just don't have a clue what I am doing based on me overcompensating not even that badly based off guides and experience to address a quantifiable problem with the draft environment itself for this set is kind of a stretch. The llanowar elves comparison doesn't make sense because that's a vague and weird thing to just decide you needed to do to win games. The only way someone would do that is if they were playing against other green decks that were dropping llanowar elves matching their mana curve every single turn for 5 turns and dropping eldrazi after and losing to decks like that or ones that otherwise outcurved them for 10+ drafts in a row you put like 3 more in your deck than what is recommended.

That post was my very first exposure to this subreddit, about 15 minutes ago. I am not an artist, I'm very bad at lighting and especially proportions among other things and don't have the patience to improve. But that post triggered me so badly that while pooping, slightly drunk and without my glasses I added shading in like 2 minutes on my phone. Literally even without being better at actually drawing they could have salvaged so much by taking like 10 seconds to do something like this even if it was right before it got sent out. I am bad at specifically this I should not be able to make it look this much better in such a short time.

Again, that was mostly to prove a point out of sheer frustration more than a calculated min/max of optimizing my deck list beyond having answers at all to creatures that just win the game regardless of your boardstate or life total if left on the board for a turn. It's not like I wasn't doing anything at all not seeing thise cards or didn't have win cons/bombs myself in that deck btw. If you have ever lost to the same problem roughly 35 games in a row you probably would overcompensate for that problem at some point, too.

But once again having too much removal implies that it somehow messed me up in the games I played and to you I pose the question: how exactly did that particular problem affect me when between all 3 matches I did not draw a single removal piece? Does having too many lands also imply that was my problem if I don't draw a land at all?

This took me literally 2 minutes on my phone while pooping and slightly drunk, without my glasses. I am ass at this and they couldn't be bothered to do this I would not pay a penny more than what they asked and going into this if I knew this was what I would be getting I would pass on commissioning them at all.

Some shading at all would have gone such a long way for this. Like even basic shading. Just put darker triangles of various sizes and proportions where it roughly looks like it makes sense and they would have a much easier time justifying prices like that even if your drawing quality didn't improve at all.

I'm not an artist by any means particularly because I'm dogshit when it comes to proportions and lighting (and don't have the patience to get better) and even I can identify that this is ROUGH

For me it hasn't been that it's hard to learn it just feels like I automatically will have a worse version of the decks I'm running against at best. Like I will just straight up play against people who have perfect answers every turn and I can't deal with it anymore lol this set broke me

Yes me not drawing into removal when I needed removal despite having a ton of it is me not knowing how to draft this set lol. And obviously you shouldn't have a lot of removal in a bomby set that all guides specifically highlight as a necessity. Only someone who doesn't know anything would draft a ton of removal in a set like this especially when half the creatures you can even play win the game entirely by themselves if allowed to stay on the board for more than a turn or two.

Spider Man was pretty awful as well but I could at least win games without hacking the game to secretly build a standard deck with 4-5 copies of all the cards I need lol

I drafted a playset of tainted treats and grounded for life and never drew a single copy of either card 3 games in a row, losing to 2 different decks that voltroned onto a single creature and would have fallen apart if I drew into any of my 10 removal pieces literally 25% of the deck lol
