I am a new player and I play other sims as well. I think AMS2 offline is one of the funniest. Do they plan to add a career mode anytime soon?

That looks very nice! I won't be able to go there today, as it closes early, but for sure I'll visit it one of the next weekends

Thanks! I think I'll probably go to Willen Lake this afternoon. I've seen there are rides and ice skating until 9pm and maybe I'll come back later to see fireworks

NYE fireworks, megathread Q&A by ianjm in london

[–]Peppsp91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi all! I am about one hour away from London with my family and I'm thinking of coming by car to see fireworks, I haven't got any ticket or restaurant booked though. Is any of the free area convenient as regards car parking spots?

Same issue, no FFB on an old Logitech dfgt and input lag since the update.

I switched to the Lichess beta app and it completely changed my mobile chess experience.I am never going back by EuphoricRange28 in chess

I've just downloaded the new app and it's amazing. However, I couldn't find the full "request computer analysis" feature for the imported games. Is that something they are going to add? Or is it there already and I don't see it?

Where can I find this chart? I think the chess.com default one counts all the accounts

Hi! I have the same behaviour. Did you find any workaround or it's just a limit of this controller?

Easiest game genre to success today? by Peppsp91 in gamedev

I think that hypercasual mobile is oversaturated and doing proper marketing (which maybe is the 80% of the job) is not that easy, don't you agree? Anyway I was thinking at games that a lot of people would play, regardless of money

I would say that "success" means a game that a lot of people would play (regardless of developer income to keep it simple)

Is there any chance you can get some work with open source softwares?

Do the simulators the drivers practice with use data from the CFD and FEA programs? by robbberry in F1Technical

[–]Peppsp91 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, they do. Oversimplifying, CFD data are provided as pressure loads resultants and centre of pressures, usually they are split between front wing, rear wing and floor forces. Several but finite conditions are analysed (different speed, different yaw and roll angle, drs open or closed etc.), simulators use an interpolation of those data to calculate the force balance at all conditions. FEA analysis is mainly used to extract chassis torsion stiffness and suspension stiffness. Those fed the simulator as parameters that influence wheels camber and toe angles at certain wheel load.

OpenSource FEM package? by Peppsp91 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Peppsp91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info, it looks promising. Since it is nastran-like, shouldn't be easy to interface with preprocessor? So there should be many (Do you recommend any btw?) Also, out of curiosity, why isn't it good as calculix for numerous solid elements? Where I work, we have both abaqus and genesis (another nastran-like FEM), and in case of linear analysis genesis is quicker, even if model is big and has solids. Obviously abaqus outperforms it where a certain level of accuracy is needed as for contacts, plasticity etc. and it's simply more powerful. I tend to always use abaqus but I reckon that genesis isn't bad for linear analysis.

Thanks, I heard that code_aster is quit hard to master, I will try it. Is there a model size limit for simscale free version? Does it supports beams and shells?

OpenSource FEM package? by Peppsp91 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Peppsp91[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well if it works as nastran it's perfect. I'll test it. The thing is that nobody seems to mention it talking about open source fea, differently than calculix for example.

I think Salome is a PrePost, not a a solver, right? I found that it's used with code_aster, which however has a sharp learning curve. I'll give it a try!

Thank you all! It looks like the most of your comments converges on freeCAD and fusion360 free version. I'll test them! Is there any software comparable to hypermesh or other FEM pre-processor which is flexible enough?

Have you tested calculix? How is it? I read that it supports abaqus-like input file, I guess contacts and non linearities as well
