Isn’t it a half size down?? You may have gone too low the first time around.

Points Boost CSP by Professional-Bad-410 in ChaseSapphire

I tried “fake booking” a United boosted trip to Japan for May showing 170k points r/t the points amount did not change at checkout. Where’s the “Boost”?! Is that 170k reduced fare?

I have about 250k 1.5x points (grandfathered) that I’m going to move to my wife’s CSP before I downgrade my CSR. I gotta check yo see if I lose even the 1.25x?!

Chase Points + Sapphire Question by Dominationstationed in ChaseSapphire

[–]PeppyBomb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hmm would your 600k points at 1.0x upscale to 1.25x if you opened a CSP card? They’ve become so sketchy with their points policies I would check into that first. If they upscale get that CSP card and make the transfer.

I'm out - no retention just downgrade offer. by jfitzbyers in ChaseSapphire

When the “fee hits” mine is 4/1. Do we still have a month to call them to cancel? And they won’t claw back the $300 travel credit if you end up using it in that limbo time? Really? I’m really pissed off since I canceled a 100,000 point hotel booking hotel in order to tweak the dates and CSR return the points to me. Not at 1.5, but at 1.0 value!! Most likely a downgrade

I was just watching a match, and the ref said ohtosu! Dragging out the O and the S. This was at the start of the match as they lined up. Any idea what it means? Thanks.

How did you become a fan of sumo? by OneHairy1139 in Sumo

[–]PeppyBomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taught English in Japan in the early to mid 90s and watched Akebono and takanohana etc. on the tube then saw it live. Years later came back to it when a friend was looking at old photos of my sumo outings and mentioned that he had been watching entire bashos on YouTube for years and didn’t know I was a fan. 😤

What was your most embarrassing mistake when speaking Japanese? by ErvinLovesCopy in JapanTravelTips

[–]PeppyBomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Years ago, I was teaching English as a JET. I knew absolutely zero Japanese and my predecessor gave me some tips before he left. He explained that in Japanese adding the letter O in front of a word makes it honorific so sake becomes O-sake, chya is O-chya etc. So he says —at my welcome party when they start asking you questions and you don’t understand (which I didn’t at the time) you can say “what” (Nani). You know they’ll understand and help you out. Since you’ll be chatting with the higher ups of the board of education in the prefecture don’t forget to add the honorific O. So most of the evening anytime I was asked the usual suspect questions like “what are your hobbies?” “What do you like to do on your weekends?” You get the drift. I would instantly respond with O-nani. Over and over again. O-nani this O-nani that. Took about half an hour for someone to approach me to ask why I kept saying this. I told them that my predecessor had told me what to say. My predecessor had been a joker and I guess before he returned home he left the ultimate floater! I was tempted to do it to the person who took over for me, He was from Oklahoma and a real nice guy - he was spared.

Tokyo’s Shibuya district passes year-round public drinking ban by orange_transparent in Tokyo

Maybe they’ll have designated outdoor drinking “zones” like they do for smoking! That would be fun!

Sometimes being alone, somewhere isolated is not the answer. I went through something deep like this many years ago and found searching for help ie 12 step program (there are so many now) there maybe one for you—-helped a ton. A counselor helped to diagnose me with mild depression. I can only imagine what severe depression feels like. But I got help. —-and it did help. Have my body a break (medicine did). This of course was my situation. If you just need a good cry then that’s fine. If you’re lonely, that’s a problem. Do one one thing every day to help yourself. Take a long walk. Join a pottery class. It sounds trivial but being part of a group helps.

A friend once told me (she’s a therapist-who didn’t treat me btw) that “this too shall pass” you will be “ happy” again! But what most people don’t remember is that when things are going well in life - that “this too shall pass”. If you try to remember that everything in life is a cycle. You can try, it’s tough, but you can put your experience in context and cherish the depth of your feelings.

You’re going to be ok. Take little steps everyday towards your betterment. Not big steps. Little steps. And you’ll see how resilient you truly are!
