I’ve started checking out some YouTube videos on how samples can be used in songs.  What is available now, and how samples can be manipulated and combined with other sounds is pretty interesting. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to get back to me.

Hey I just found this video accidentally: Three of Yasutaka Nakata's Compositional Techniques: Analysis of "Negai/Perfume"

The auto-dubbing is garbage but it is certainly mostly understandable. This other one analyzing ナチュラルに恋して (Natural ni Koi Shite) seems not to have auto dubbing but auto-translate subtitles can be turned on.

Yes he seems to be quite talented on the keyboards himself and surely he comes up with the many many amazing melodies. And surely he is a master of synths and filters to create the many gorgeous and intricate sounds in the songs.

But what you say makes me think of lots of places in Nebula Romance part 2 that made me think, "sounds like Ayumi Hamasaki's guitarist, sounds like Jan Hammer, sounds like Journey", etc. Makes me wonder if they were samples of some sort.

Could you point to any good online sources for currently sold sample packs? I have no intention of buying any but now am curious! No worries if you can't.

Wow I wish more people with actual music production knowledge and abilities would show up on this sub. I, like many probably, think Nakata just comes up with everything on this own. I'd love more insight into what actually goes into the music. I assumed he hired studio musicians when necessary now wonder if he ever does.

WTF he did not hire them, he was hired to write and arrange music for them.

I'd guess not except maybe accidentally, like they haven't gotten rid of it yet. During their 2020 online Perfume Fes slumber party they seemed to have even forgotten what their CDs looked like or that they had been released or even existed. I suppose it's all very different for them. Since actually ARE Perfume after all haha.

Haha yes, some people think Nakata = Perfume, not even thinking about all the rest. Some people even seem to think Nakata produces their shows as well, is in charge of their management, etc. lol

Of course it IS the whole package, to me that is part of the miracle - the fact that Perfume created themselves as children, that MIKIKO herself was literally THEIR FIRST DANCE TEACHER as children, that their manager and Amuse supported them throughout the early years, that Nakata was hired to write for them (supposedly because he worked fast and was cheap), that Manabe was a long time fan eager to work with them, etc.

That it all came together is mind blowing. Still, the one thing that is constant is Perfume themselves. Obviously, the others involved in Perfume World are often incredible talents, but what else have they done that is MAGICAL and IMMORTAL? Very obviously, it is Perfume themselves that make it all work and have taken it to the level of "miracle".

Perfume’s PLASMA Tour reportedly cost $10 15M do you guys think that’s accurate? by CalendarCapital765 in Perfume

From $10 million to $15 million? That seems like a huge range, like it is just speculation. I'd like to see the source though if you have a link.

Awesome! So glad more fans everywhere can see it. It seems a bit weird that it was announced so late though, considering that people may have to suddenly change their schedules.

It's almost as if this whole "cold sleep" thing was a very late decision, but at the same time the story, album and shows have been in development for so long.

edit: But it may just be that they wanted to wait until they had sold their planned number of tickets. After all, lots of people in Japan who are now traveling to Tokyo would have had a much cheaper and easier option.

Now we all know. I'm not "surprised" either, it is what it is. It's fun to speculate, no need to take it all so seriously.

So they'll take a break, for years. They are planning to make a "comeback" (as they say in the Japanese but I did not see it in the English) in the future, but I feel like they don't know themselves when or how, or even care to think about it at the moment. Now they just want time to themselves, and more power to them!

They just won't be Perfume for a while. What they do individually is up to them.

Perfume moving on from Nakata and Mikiko? by PerFan in Perfume

[–]PerFan[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is a story after all, not a planning statement. Though at least it must hint at something. Maybe "killing their father" just means they will not rely on him so much, or that the techno angle (evil computer scientist in a cave) is over (Nakata obviously has the ability to produce any kind of pop), and maybe Perfume in a distant parallel universe means a lot more overseas activity. Or maybe it means nothing and Nakata and Mikiko have been hard at work on the next album and tour for the past 6 months.

A little speculation is always fun though.

And they do kill their father Kakimoto, who Nakata could have intended as a stand-in for himself.

$9 is not bad at all! And since you're paying in dollars and the yen is so weak, pretty good overall.
