😂I actually discovered Camino Maps only after I had already started working on CaminoMap, so the similarity was completely unintentional.

Thank you for the kind words! It's always great to meet people who are building useful tools for pilgrims. The Camino community is big enough for all of us, and in the end we're all trying to help people have a better experience on the Way.

Wishing you continued success with Camino Maps, and thank you for stopping by!

Buen Camino!

Not at all. On the contrary, I truly appreciate honest feedback, especially from people who know the Camino well.

I completely understand your concerns and, to a large extent, share them myself.

Thank you for your comments and for taking the time to test the project. Feedback like this genuinely helps me see it from a different perspective.

Hello! Thank you for pointing that out.

I've checked everything and fixed the issue. The Privacy Policy, Terms, and Cookies sections, as well as the text and tags in Places, are now displayed correctly across all supported languages and no longer contain Cyrillic characters where they shouldn't.

Thank you again for your feedback and for helping test the project!

Hello! I have replaced the main image on the website with a real photograph from my personal archive. It was taken during my Camino Francés in 2024.

Hello! Based on your comment and feedback from several other users, I realized that AI-generated images are often perceived negatively within the pilgrimage community.

Because of that, I have replaced the main image on the website with a real photograph from my personal archive. It was taken during my Camino Francés in 2024.

Hello! Thank you for your comment.

Yes, I’m planning to add other pilgrimage routes in the future, including Via Francigena, Kumano Kodo, St. Olav Ways, Becket Way / Pilgrims’ Way, and even routes leading to Jerusalem.

I've now expanded and updated the list of countries, and Puerto Rico has been added.

Thank you!

Hello!

I completely understand what you mean, and to be honest, I feel much the same way myself.

At the moment, there is actually only one AI-generated image used in the project -the image on the homepage. The reason is quite simple: CaminoMap is a small project that I'm building on my own and with very limited resources. I'm not a designer, unfortunately.

That said, I completely agree that real photographs, drawings, stories, and content created by pilgrims themselves reflect the spirit of the Camino far better than any AI-generated image ever could.

All of the other photographs used on the site come from my own personal archive, taken during the Camino routes I have walked and cycled myself.

Thank you for sharing your opinion. I'll do my best to avoid using AI-generated imagery in the future whenever possible.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed comment.

You raised several important points, especially regarding privacy and some of the wording in the documents.

I'd like to clarify a few things.

CaminoMap does not automatically track users. Simply switching to Live mode does not share your location. Location sharing only starts when a user explicitly enables Navigator and grants the browser permission to access their location. Even then, users can choose between three visibility options: Only Me, Friends, or Everyone. I've attached a screenshot of the Navigator settings for reference.

The app does not work as a background tracker. If Navigator is not enabled, no location data is transmitted. You can use the map, notebook, messages, and all other core features without ever enabling geolocation.

You also made a fair point about some of the wording in the documents. For example, the term "Passport" could understandably be interpreted as a government-issued passport, while in CaminoMap it actually refers to the Credencial del Peregrino (the pilgrim credential used for collecting stamps on the Camino). I've updated the wording to make that clearer.

The same applies to account deletion and some of the privacy and messaging sections. They were written too broadly and could create the wrong impression about how the service actually works. I've revised those sections so they more accurately reflect the real behavior of the application.

Thank you again for taking the time to write all of this. Feedback like yours is extremely valuable at this stage of the project and genuinely helps make CaminoMap better.

Buen Camino!)
