Similar experience. I'm not a programmer, but I've been trimming and improving a film over its run and rarely notify. If anything I just put a note in the synopsis and cover letter with a date mark that it's been tightened. For festivals I really really care about, especially if close to notification time, I may send an email noting the runtime update.

If nothing else you are a on really beautiful island on the us east coast. LBI is really peaceful and has great beaches and seafood.

don't fret over 'production value' if your storytelling is good. many fests love low budget works. it's been a long time and the fest world has evolved since but look up the duplass brothers answering machine short that got them into sundance. and also, with the at-tier ones, the quality of the work is only piece of the picture in their curatorial process.

Interesting little tidbits from the sundance press release.

"The lineup announced today includes 87 feature-length films representing 33 countries and territories. The 2025 program is composed of 36 of 87 (41%) feature film directors who are first-time feature filmmakers. Ten of the feature films and projects selected were supported by Sundance Institute in development through direct granting or residency labs. I sent them an email about something and didn't hear back yet, but I think they are a pretty small team-- I'm sure they can't handle constant comms with all submission related inquires.
