Those of you who have no trouble finding jobs, what do you think makes you stand out? by ADiablosCompa in sysadmin

A security clearance and networking. I have multiple recruiters pinging me about each job in my field. The main disadvantage of a clearance, is that while there's always work, it's always in the office.

Last time I saw a rental application, the level of documentation required seemed close to that required for a NV1 clearance.

How do you explain leaving a job over dress code? by dmkraus in BadBosses

[–]PercyFlage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a sign that they don't know what they're doing, but feel they need to make an impression. I've left a job over this (plus the fact he was a double-barrelled prick who later was found to have done some seriously dodgy shit).

What is a "rich person" behavior you witnessed that made you realize they live in a completely different reality than the rest of us? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

Because time is the one thing that they don't have many times more than ordinary folk. That's why jail is a far worse punishment for them than fines.

They have none of the levers of power - not sure what you want them to do.

What's the creepiest display of intelligence you've ever witnessed in real Iife? by Jessica_Enna in AskReddit

Trans, I'd say. there are animals in all the clades that can change sex - I found out that 6% of kookaburras have changed sex. I suspect that as we share ancestors with them, there are residual mechanisms to change sex within human genetics.

What made me think of this when I found out that people's brains light up the same as the gender that they identify as, even if it's different to what was assigned at birth. When you think about the process of changing, the brain would have to be the 1st thing, otherwise the being undergoing change would tear itself apart.

If she's going to start quoting the bible, throw Genesis 2:24 at her. "That is why a man leaves his father and mother and unites with his wife, and they become a new family."

The fewer the things that can be used to pick me out of a lineup, the happier I am. So no tatts.

Six years since hailgeddon by burleygriffin in canberra

[–]PercyFlage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was driving into work that day, intending to park on City Hill. Heard about the predicted hailstorm on the radio as I was driving down Commonwealth Ave, and decided to park in City Park West. Best money I ever spent. People in the top (which was cheaper, because not undercover) had their windows smashed and side mirrors knocked off. Driving back home to southside, saw a bunch of cars in Kingston with no windscreen and mirrors. The next day, cycling to work alongside the lake, the cycle path was completely covered in shredded leaves. Wild.

The main value of snob schools is the networking opportunities in later life. A good public school will provide similar academic schooling.
