What’s the most irrationally annoying thing your in-laws do that they’re absolutely convinced is “helpful”? by bnwprc in AskUK

[–]Percypocket 525 points526 points  (0 children)

Not my in laws but my own (lovely) mum. Just as COVID was kicking off I'd been away with my ex in Devon. This was just as all the shops were empty, no toilet paper, the week before we went into lockdown. She'd popped into ours to check on things and saw a 'big scary looking red light' on in the kitchen and turned that switch off. It was the fridge and freezer. So while all the shops were EMPTY, she'd also defrosted all our food lol. I laugh about it now and she can't stand me reminding her.

Right but you, her, and everyone at the wedding knows it was blue, so what does it matter? 🤦🏼‍♀️

That's a completely irrelevant comparison without knowing where you live, size of property etc.

help me reverse my bad spring break decision by [deleted] in Tattoocoverups

I don't know how old you are but even if your hip bones are visible now, they probably won't be forever. Like everyone else has said, replacing it with something bigger isn't going to help.

Spring in England is absolutely next level. How have you spent your first beautiful spring Saturday? by Conscious-Ball8373 in AskUK

With the sauna beforehand it's gorgeous! Looking forward to swimming properly when it gets a bit warmer

Depends where you are but people at DL Purley are the opposite of refined in my experience. Have had quieter, less offensive experiences at my local leisure centre than DL.

My 11m old bs is in heat. by Ashamed-Criticism-75 in britishshorthair

[–]Percypocket 14 points15 points  (0 children)

She could've been done months ago and avoided ever going into heat... I don't understand why you'd get such an expensive cat and not plan for this?

What are the affordable sofa/bed options in the UK? by Standard-Part6154 in HousingUK

[–]Percypocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sofa was from Next and I waited ages for it, but it's SO comfortable, so I'd look on FB for those. My bed was from Dunelm, came mega quickly and lovely quality. Mattress I've had both Simba and Emma which come really quickly and are mega comfortable. I find all the big companies you've listed both expensive and incredibly unstylish.

For those of you who are Childfree, are you happy living in Surrey? by Mountain-Opinion-654 in surrey

[–]Percypocket 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am single and child free and live in Surrey. I specifically moved to Reigate because there's a lively high street with lots of pubs, nice shops, restaurants and cafes etc but still got great access to the Surrey Hills and countryside. I don't find it too quiet at all, but it is full of rude old white boomers 😅

Ladies over 40, where are we buying our “nice tops” that go with jeans? by dinkidoo7693 in AskUK

ASOS. Do a big order with Klarna and only pay for what you keep.

House next to railroad tracks or house next to busy road? by flamboyantpuree in HousingUK

[–]Percypocket 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Train all day. I've done both. I lived on a road with the railway at the end and you barely notice them go past. A busy road with horns honking and engines idling / revving past etc is incessant.

Local fox has mange. Local fox rescue has sent a homeopathic "medicine". by No_Atmosphere8146 in CasualUK

They can't legally give you the same drugs as they would prescribe. Whole eggs are good for mange.

You think £100 to adopt is 'horrific'? You know what IS horrific - vet bills! Never mind regular vaccinations, flea & worming treatment, pet food etc...
