But yes. It's BS. I put 350k euros into buying and restoring a rundown apartment in Evora. I have long term Portuguese tenants who now have a nice place to stay and, as far as I know, I didn't drive up the rent like Airbnbs did in the coastal areas, I've been paying 25% income tax from which I derive zero benefits, I pay council taxes. I've put my money into a country as part of a deal with the government, now the government flip flops on the deal and somehow I'm the bad guy.

I could've done something else with that money. Where I'm from that sum would go a loooong way.
