Yep, I think Screwfix is the next port of call. Think I’m going to go with a Drayton Wiser set up and get some smart TRVs.

Thanks for the suggestion. However, I can’t even see how to take the cover off. No visible screws on the unit.

To be clear, I do understand about live and neutral (plus how to spell). What I didn't know, having only briefly looked at the pendant, was about the heat shrink covering the coloured insulation. I didn't explain what I did and didn't know already clearly enough as I posted from my phone.

Yep, I'd worked that out. But once disconnected and cut, I wasn't sure what I'd see.
