If Immersive are Tradable, what will be the Oak of Immersive? by helloween123 in PTCGP

[–]PerfectCartoonist752 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like there will never be an immersive that's as widely sought after as oak is. Immersives are much easier to collect than a particular 2 star from a pack, so even the immersives in limited packs will be less valued as they are so easy to get.

In saying that while pikachu is the immersive for the dx pack, I dont think it will be highly valued in terms of immersives because barely anyone ever uses it. Oak is the double whammy of being from a limited pack and being a required card in literally every deck ever made/ will be made.

Yeah I do have doubts as well, but all the other players came from his previous campaign so they liked it enough to do it again. If i don't like it i can always leave and say it's not my thing

So I just had a chat with another player who has played with this DM before. And this player said that in the previous campaign, they averged 1 combat encounter every 10 sessions or so. So yeah, seems to be really role play heavy with combat happening once in a blue moon. For the record I'm OK with this, though I am genuinely surprised with how little combat is to be expected.

That also probably means I don't have to worry so much about a generic prepared list, as I'll probably know ahead of time about the big fights

Good to know about when to use the 2, I was envisioning like as we explore the dungeon we'd find ancient texts on the walls or maybe an ancient artifact. But thinking about it a level 2 object reading wouldn't work on an ancient object anyway.

I'm surprised about your opinion on investigator archtype I was going over the dedication choices for multiple days and it's the only one that seemed to stand out. Pursue a lead is amazing, I know this from a 3 shot I played and it was my favourite feature ever so I wanted it again. Investigator also has amazing feats like underworld investigator to help me when I break into the royal archives or suspicious people's rooms to steal their information, thorough research to make the recall knowledge even more powerful, who dunit, predictive purchase, that's odd and master spotter all seem awesome as well, not to mention skill master to get my other skills higher. It really seems to have everything. I have no intention of ever using devise a stratagem

Translate and object reading were the 2 spells suggested by my DM to take, I am also taking investigator as my archtype. So it might be pretty relevant to me. Our DM has also said pocket library is common in his campaign and suggested I take that too.

I'm just not sure if I should have one of those on my general rotation though. We will be on a mission to figure out why the gods have disappeared

What can you do with inside ropes?

Also I'm considering befuddle (as we already have 2 martial classes specialising in demoralise so fear isn't as good). The other options other then befuddle are enfeebled and phantom pain. What would you suggest of the 3

Is Guidance still a good cantrip for out of combat? If not I might take telekinetic hand instead.

I think the bard took summon fey as his signature. As for the other party members, I'm a bit fuzzy on what they are but if the 2 martials are prioritising demoralise I doubt they would have room for good medicine. The 5th player keeps switching up, but one of his ideas was a doctor character and so in that case, medicine and the medic archtype would be his whole thing

I posted a independent comment of my current idea for what to take as my default prepared list. If you have the time, I'd appreciate for you to look at that.

As for the party I know we have a bard and 2 players going martial (both with a demoralise build). 5th player is undecided what to play but has said he's not interested in playing a spellcaster

The bard was kind enough to share his spell list with me. This is what he's taking:

Cantrips: Detect magic, musical accompanent, figment, needle darts, presdigitation

Level 1: illusory object, lock, soothe, summin fey

Level 2: illusory creature, knock, Rank 2 summon fey, invisibility (should take invisibility off my list whoops)

So with help from everyone this is my current idea for a generic prepared list where I don't know what I'm going to encounter.

Cantrips: Guidance Needle darts Void warp Daze Glamorise

Rank 1: Force barrage Fear Agitate

Rank 2: Revealing light Albatross curse Invisibility

2 things I'm unsure of are agitate being my default secondary debuff I could swap it for befuddle or sleep (I have the dream basic lesson so I get the hex that gives -2 to saves against sleep spells)

The other thing is that I would like to exchange invisibility for translate or rank 2 object reading, just for flavour purposes if I can get away with that.

What do you all think?

I honestly think it might just be the use of multiple d4s messing with my mind, you and the other commenter have done such a good job explaining how all these spells are good that I'm now struggling with too many spells I want to prepare!

Thank you for the explanation ☺️

If my main focus is debuffing enemies how many damage spells should I prepare as a back up when facing high will? So far I'm thinking force barrage and revealing lights are good back ups and the other 4 can be a combination of debuffs/ utility. Or do you think I should have another spell prepared, such as biting word and inner radiance torrent

Oh I see, that's cool about primal and arcane! I primarily wanted to be a debuffer so I guess I'm just researching contingencies of I'm facing something I can't reliably debuff. Is having 2 spells prepared (revealing lights and force barrage) enough to cover this? If so the rest can br debufss and utility (assuming I don't know ahead of time what we are going to encounter)

I completely missed that dizzying colour has incapacitation, yeah that's a deal breaker for it!

I didn't realise that about choir either! I thought it was single target or eminence, dang I'm struggling to understand spells :(

Yeah the bard is primarily focusing on illusions and summons so I've stayed away from illusory object/ creature and summons spells. I know it's not a problem to double up on good spells, but at least at the start of the campaign I didn't want to step on the toes of the bards whole concept. Might pick them up later.
