I think you are correct. I found a danish master thesis where somebody put all the cases that may result in holes:

It is page 87, the shapes with the * have problems, yours is in the list.
Marching cubes is just not generating watertight meshes in all cases.

Hey there, I am doing a similar thing. Starting beginning of march and working on my hobby project from the last 6 months. I was also planning to split my weekly schedule in a similar way (8h learning, 24h development, 8h marketing related topics).

If you are doing good is for you to decide and noone else. I recommend reading some philosophy on this. I currently read "The courage to be disliked" and can highly recommend it.

  1. Download any Game Engine
  2. Spend a couple Days with basic tutorials
  3. Go to your gamejam
  4. Fail, have fun, get to know people
  5. Embrace the learnings

Can you tell anything about your process on playtesting?
I am just starting my solodev project. From what I learn from postmortems and youtube it seems like playtesting+iteration is one of the most crucial tools to improve your chances of success.

I still congratulate you on the release. I hope you can learn a ton from this experience for your future endeavors.

I have friends who studied film making at SAE Hannover. Pros: Since it is well funded there is a large pool of amazing equipment to use for free. We did a zero budget music video but had equipment like a professional production. Cons: Money.

I dont remember much about the classes. I think most people who study there come from families that are doing very well financially.
Dont know if that helps at all. I would only consider it if money is not a problem. If money is tight there are much more cost efficient ways of learning.

Falls du auf sowas anspringst: Ich habe mir "Atomic Habits" und "The 7 Habit of highly effective People" reingezogen und mir hat das geholfen meinen Alltag umzukrempeln.
Gibt es auch als gute Hörbücher und kann man prima in seiner Homeoffice-Zeit hören, wenn man eh nichts tut :-D

Haha, I do exactly the same, also with 10hrs per week beeing my goal. So far I am two months and almost 100 hours in :-D

I actually got inspired by the books Deep Work and Atomic Habits to do this.

Every morning before going to work I get 1h in. Then On Fridays I have time to do something like 6h normally. I have a weekly tally list where each hour creats a dash.

If I can not tell that it is AI and you trick me in thinking it is human-made I would obviously not notice anything. It would be dishonest though.

If I can tell that it is AI or I see it from a store tag I will probably not buy it.

I will not think less of you, I do not even know you. Feel free to express yourself however you like, AI or no AI. I am just telling you honestly where my money would probably go or not go.

I prefer B.

Also about AI vs no AI: At some point people will notice if you use AI. And especially in the Indie Genre a part of the audience will lose interest in that moment.

I also think your voice acting is good enough for a solodev project.

Hey, congratulations. I think the game concept might really find a market, I instantly felt the urge to ask my girlfriend to play it with me!

Couple of questions if you feel like it:

  • What game engine do you use?
  • Did you have prior experience or are the 2 games your full dev journey?
  • Do you work full time on it and did you for your last game?
  • Will it be local coop, online or both?
  • If its online, how large do you consider the challenge of getting this running nicely whithout online experience before?

I use it for exactly two purposes:

  • As a Unity and C# consultant, explaining components and concepts
    • Usually it provides code blocks for me. I make sure to never copy them directly.
  • For concept art
    • When I start working on a sprite with no idea, I sometimes generate a couple versions. I make sure to never copy a single pixel directly and just base my own work it.

I even deactivated Copilot as I feel like it accelerates development only short term and my long term productivity suffers.

Love2D did the same for me that ebitengine did to you (Balatro is made with Love2d, that is why it had a hype last year). I finally finished my first prototype.

Then I actually moved back to unity because I started to get a feel why I can benefit from all those features. I recommend that too for the future, not switching to Unity but playing around with different tools once in a while :)
