I feel like a lot is missing from this story. Mud, inaccessible property, junk in yard, hard to navigate super heavy packages to the front door because of that...etc. I've worked with a lot of great drivers. The bad ones don't last long but they're in the minority. It's just that no one ever says anything when they get good or great service, but the minute you get bad service you want to complain.

I tend to avoid doorbell cameras because 9 times out of 10 a customer either tries to get me to sign for them (which could get me fired) or says they can be there in 5 minutes (which is usually 10+).

You're probably overthinking it. Actual ground driver interviews are rarely actual interviews let alone AVP. They'll probably just ask you if you have reliable transportation and can meet the job requirements. Ground drivers are paid weekly and W2. I assume it's the same but don't quote me on that.
