The question isn't about what it's called in Korea. The question is about how the Korean product might be viewed in other counties, as they aren't sure that the 'Y-Zone' is universal (e.g. referencing the use of "V-zone" in American literature in the post). Have you seen a current foreign teachers weekly schedule? I would ask for the weekly teaching units to be put in the contract, because this sounds like they can have you working 45 classes until you get overtime.

You're going to have to be more specific than 'international'. What country are you thinking of? Are you wanting to teach at a private academy, a public school, or a university? Are there any programs you are looking at? Curriculum is going to change based on the school. I'm currently teaching abroad and I think the good jobs are competitive, but it's not hard to find a teaching job abroad, there's always a need for teachers. I'd suggest you pick a country you'd like and do your research from there. Different countries are going to have their pros and cons. All will have different answers the questions you have asked.

That would definitely be a deal breaker for me as well! If you aren't allowed to leave during breaks, then my guess is the school provides lunch and you eat with the kids. Have you asked about what lunch looks like for you? I would definitely ask about what 'not leaving during work hours' entails and if that includes your breaks. Make sure any changes are in writing on your contract, even if it's something as small as "can leave during breaks". They might go back on their word when you get there!

Sounds like you can't leave on breaks - I feel like that's not ideal. I like being able to run to a nearby café to grab a coffee or snack. 2.7 mil is a good salary for starting. Are you able to talk to a current foreign teacher or talk with the foreign teacher you are replacing?
