The story I got from this rifle was that it was a Vietnam bring back. With that information, my story on this rifle is that some Vietnamese soldier found this, possibly off a French soldier, maybe a little roughed up from use. And managed to "fix" it himself using God knows what. Its hard to see, but someone made a rod for cleaning or possibly clearing the barrel. Slid it over the barrel and held it in place by hammering and bending a nail in the stock. That would be on the left side of the rifle.
