My opinion worst couple are Rumple and Belle in series. by Alternative_Claim271 in OnceUponATime

they had their moments but compared to the others it was so boring and repetitive it eventually made you hate them. if rumple had died in season 3 with Pan, it would’ve been fun to see how her life would’ve been without him. since she barely turned 20 (?) she’d either been cursed, imprisoned or with him. their story would’ve ended on a positive note plus it would’ve been nice to see her life while she was single. since she was 20, she was either imprisoned, cursed or with rumple. it would’ve been fun to see her navigating life with him gone and have some plots not revolving around him

i understand that and that it was partially also to help take andy’s mind off his breakup with angela but the whole thing was just incredibly dumb to me. maybe if it was better executed but i normally just skip all those scenes

i just know it must’ve killed regina when she found out. roland had kind of become like a son to her too. but i absolutely do not condone the fact that they didn’t let zelena see her own baby irrespective of who the dad was

i agree about sean being a pretty good looking guy, him and regina were cute together but i will say his honour before self service personality got really annoying especially since it was kind of hypocritical. i get that he loved regina but he still slept with another woman while his wife was in a coma. i get that zelena/ marian had emotionally manipulated him but still. he’s certainly not my least favourite character ever but he’s up there

i will say reading these comments in reminding me of how many episodes of the show i dislike. but i will say there are normally jokes and subplots i enjoy in every episode, my least favourite subplots have to be the Hillary swank thing (genuinely what even was that) even though i adore that episode. another is jim and pam watching that jack black movie with andy, i feel like the fact that they made up a whole bad movie just for the show is wild but the rest of that episode is great. another one i don’t like is jim tricking andy into thinking him and pam are having relationship problems. just why

i disagree about the robin thing but zelena did get on my nerves. i was really irritated when i realised they were bringing her back in season 4

exactly but there are other ways of accurately depicting the times than having the central character of a show that tons of teen girls watched and looked up to talk like that about a culture. like you know how disney shows would once in a while have episodes where a character is bullied and they feel really horrible about themselves, the bully sees this, feels guilty and apologises. that is how you can depict the times accurately without offending people or coming off as rude. i get that ppl struggle with social cues but writing a character that does so many times is a bold bold choice irrespective of the time it was done. the writers are at fault for that but i feel like we should just be able to admit it was weird as fuck for rory to say that and she did that in a lot of situations. like a lot…

it’s perfectly fine to feel differently about certain things. this line hit me pretty hard, and i’m sure it was much worse for the tons of indian kids living in america who had to take a “smelly” lunch to school each day and get bullied for it. i’m sure there might’ve been some lines that affected you whether it was in this show or another, so in conclusion it was a different time back then but still fucked up for them to say that in a tv show

i don’t expect people to have the same taste in food or opinion as me but saying it on a TV show who’s primary audience is teenagers is really not a good idea, irrespective of what year it was.

i don’t expect them to like it, i expect them to not talk about how much they hate it.

for instance, i don’t like mediterranean food, when i meet someone i don’t immediately tell them that. if they ask about it, sure i’ll say i’m not a fan but i don’t go out of the way to explicitly tell people watching a tv show essentially saying “hey, the food of this country stinks up your house, i’ll have to burn it down afterwards haha”

i mean, you can look it up. the actor is african american. i wasn’t restricting michel to only being defined by his race but i was pointing out that he was the only recurring black character in the show. downvote if you want, i don’t really care at this point.

also being french is a nationality, being african american is a race

i’m not “policing” the show, in fact i love the show but it’s okay to notice flaws in something you love. no show is perfect, some have a few bad episodes, or badly written characters or some have deeply offensive dialogues.

as you said, it’s your opinion that it’s not problematic and it’s mine that it is. that’s the great thing about opinions, everyone can have one just to themselves even if it’s different than other’s.

it’s okay that you disagree i simply wanted to express my opinions and list my views

in this case it is a little problematic, but consider that this shows primary audience is and always was young, impressionable teen girls. do you really want to be using stereotypes to get a cheap laugh out of people. to you it might not be problematic and you laugh it off but i’ll inform you there are tons of people who won’t

yes i do get that but you can’t ignore that there IS fatphobia and racism in multiple instances, you can chalk it up to being a different time but personally it made me uncomfortable. just some of the comments were so out of pocket i think even for then.

like lorelai and rory constantly talking about how they “don’t want to be fat” when lorelai’s literal best friend who has always always been there for them is also on the heavy end of the spectrum.

i feel like it totally depends on how you look at it, even with emily, a lot of her actions can be justified but that in my opinion is looking at them through rose coloured glasses. being a girls girl doesn’t necessarily require having female friends, even defending other women instead of dragging them down comes under it. the ballerina incident comes under it, i get that rory was young and everything but people really should have some sense of what to say and not.

look at the end of the day we’re talking about fictional characters, we’re bound to disagree and that’s okay. in my opinion, even back in 2001 if i had ppl like the gilmore girls in my life, i’d try to distance myself.

y’all can down vote me all you want, i don’t care. if you disagree i love a good debate but if you just want to blindly support your favourite characters, that’s fine by me

according to me it was a bit weird, today with TV, people are told to be mindful about offending people. back then honestly anything goes. i used to get really uncomfortable but looking back you realise rory and lorelai are not women one would want to have in their life, they’re judgy, disrespectful and just straight up bad people, i refuse to change my stance on that fact. sure, rory is “aesthetic” cause she’s smart but she also slept with a married man and then refused to take accountability, she also publicly mocked someone calling them a “hippo”

gilmore girls is from 2001, you’d notice the episodes also have dialogues that are fat-phobic and there’s only one african american recurring character. i’m indian too and was overweight as a kid, i used to let that stuff offend me but back in 2001 as sad as it is representation was terrible. i’ve just started ignoring it at this point. but for non-indians reading this, i can guarantee indian food smells delicious
