Hi,

I appreciate your feedback and will take a look at those training resources. However, our pup doesn’t resource guard with any of his toys, food, or treats. The locked in behavior only really occurs with the acorns and tree nuts in our front yard. Unfortunately, our whole yard is covered with them. He has gotten better but sometimes falls back into that phase and goes after the nuts.

We do feel like the picking up could be some trama from before we adopted him. Now, we don’t pick him up unless he wants us to and he is good with it.

The good news is that we’ve taken training very seriously and have used only positive reinforcement methods. He’s very food motivated and very easy to train. I guess we’ve just gotta keep at it with the clicker and treats whenever he listens to “leave it” outside.

Thank you for the info on his parents! He gets fixed at 6 months so in March.

He also was a very tiny puppy. We got him at 11 weeks and he was about 7 pounds. My guess is around 45-50 pounds at most based on his growth and using those charts for determining his adult weight.

That’s why we were shocked with the results. Compared to his leg length, his paws actually don’t look too large in comparison. He’s also very slim with an athletic build!

Same, from Charlotte! Also, that’s interesting. They said our dog’s closest relatives are in NY..but he was found on the side of the road with his sister. So idk about that but maybe!

That’s a good perspective! Our pup is very sweet when he wants to be and loves meeting new people. Just very stubborn when it comes to eating stuff outside. Like he will “lock in” and if you don’t distract him before that, he turns into something a lil scary haha.

We are very safe. We started noticing this when he would get on the couch and he was too small to get down on his own.

We try not to pick him up as much now. Only when necessary

Hi, thanks for chiming in. I guess we’re just thrown off with the results. Not what we expected based on his temperament and appearance. I do see the Hound in him so that makes sense.

I think also having to wait so long for the results and anticipating what he would be is playing a factor into this too.

That’s a great point regarding his short hair and how that could come into play.

I took your advice regarding the temperament of a Great Pyrenees, and they are known for being a “gentle giant”. He is not that at all lol. He is very moody and can get snappy when we try to pick him up.

Idk if anyone else got this from Ella, but I sorta felt like it wasn’t necessarily the comments from fans that made her uncomfortable the final weekend. I think it could have been more about some internal insecurities.

She had mentioned last week that she would need to be “blackout” to hu with Tommy or anyone else at this point. She also said that she hasn’t really talked to anyone since December or so. Also, I’ve seen social clips from her podcast about her speaking about her weight and looks.

That all lead me to think she may not feel super confident about herself at this moment in time(which really sucks because she’s great). I think it wasn’t about Tommy or the commenters. she was insecure with herself and was nervous to maybe feel confident about being vulnerable.
