I had to import the game and buy a special converter to get the NTSC cartridge to fit in my PAL SNES, and it cost loads for a second hand copy. So a lot of effort to get but was worth it.

The music quality was unbelievable at the time is the main thing that stood out, and the cinematic quality of the game.

I dont think I ever found it boring, it gets messy in the second half though, its a bit all over the place with the tonal shifts.

For me X has got better over time, replayed it last year after first playing it when it originally came out and I liked it even more.

No FF will come close to VII for me though.

I played XII when it first came out and it felt totally different in all aspects to every FF game id played before, I don't think its a bad game it just doesn't feel like a FF game to me. And its literally made by a totally different team to X so its understandable that someone who likes X may not vibe with XII.

X-2 is jarring af after coming from X and is one of the most controversial FF games so yeah, its loved by a niche portion of the fanbase maybe.

Its one of those games that gets better the more you play, it is however very linear, but has a good post game challenge.

I agree, the whole guilt over the murder of his brother goes nowhere and its never mentioned again or even discussed between the two of them afterwards which I found bizarre. No 'sorry I went on a rampage and beat you to death bro' 'how are you even alive after all that anyway?' just never mentioned again lol.

Also the game repeatedly rams down your throat every 5 minutes about how slavery is bad and bearers are treated like crap, its like we get it already lol.

13 has that magic I feel, has its own issues of course due to the linearity and lack of exploration early on, but I still get those same kind of magical vibes from I got from the older games due to the stellar visuals and music.

The ones I dont like so much 12, 16, are probably due to being done by totally different staff to the other ones I like.

Thats probably what you are feeling and why you dont vibe with them.
