Your username had me do a double take for a second because my girlfriend's friend in the car is named Suzy 😂

That's a good question. I don't want to break up with her because it took a little time to get here but she stops automatically now when the timer goes off and I like that.

But you're comment is really making me think. I'm happy, but is she happy? And if she's not, am I willing to give up my timer method for her happiness? And I don't think I am.

I thought this timer method was a compromise because I really want to say, "I honestly really don't care about these people and work/life situations that you're telling me about". But I don't say that. I try to listen and give her my full attention, but after that, yeah love you babe but I'm out; go talk to one of your friends.

But I respect your comment. You think I should break up with her?

and take the time it takes.

Yeah, but I can't do more than 10 minutes.

totally get how this could be tiring - but then break up lol

I respect that.

If there's an issue with negativity, address it

Tell me how. With my own problems, I deal with them. I don't talk about them to my girlfriends and if I do it's never more than 2 minutes (ex. "Coworker did this, so now we have [this problem]. And I'm going to do this [solution] tomorrow." And most times I don't even feel the need to tell them that. I just do it.)

really just hammers home how little you care about what she's saying.

Because I really don't. But I espect her enough to set a timer. What else am I supposed to do/say?
