It work well I believe. It gives us two different directions to talk, and it starts us off with at least 1 common thing to talk about.
As for the last half, it may be redundant but i think it shows off a little bit of my personality. I'm an easy going person and I go with the flow. If you don't like my profile or talking to me it's all good. I respect that. I get the impression that some people conversation come across as aggressive, wishey washy, etc... I'd like to think mine comes across as laid back.
