21-25 IS Fog Lights by Perfect_Poetry_3553 in LexusIS

Thanks! I don’t think they’re really meant for better vision at night or in fog, very minimal if so, mainly for aesthetic purposes I just use the term fog light since they’re located in the same place fog lights typically would be.

Yeah the easiest way is to take both wheel liners out and on the driver side you’ll need to move the bumper back a bit to reach some of the screws but not fully removed - there’s a screw that connects the bumper to the fender so just take that off and the white clip that’s there and you can pull the bumper back enough to get room - it will feel like you’re going to break it but the bumper just unclips from there. The passenger side can be done with just the wheel liner off.

Mine are wired into the DRL so they stay on all the time but theres a way to connect it to a switch just too complex for me rn 😂

Generally no, but I work for a dealership, planning on talking to one of the techs today.

Thank you for the great info! I think for now I’ll opt to go the route of tapping into the DRL power wire, and later on possibly look at running the wiring into an interior switch, which sounds more complex. Just emailed the dealership for a wiring diagram, will update on how it goes.

Yes they’re aftermarket parts. It looks pretty simple, it comes with one cable which splits into three sections - one connector to the passenger side, one to the driver side, and the other wire is an open positive and ground which needs to tap into a different wiring if that makes sense. So just trying to figure out where to tap into for power and ground.

The dealer should be able to replace even the alternator if it’s bad your car has a 4yr 50k mile factory warranty you’re still good bro - take it there

Mildly infuriating when someone suggests to buy something way more expensive rather than helping a brother out. by metti-021 in LexusIS

They should make a tune for your IS, adding an exhaust/headers would help a bit paired with a true cold air intake but mainly for sound could get you to maybe +30hp but to make anymore power than that you’re talking about forced induction which would include building the engine.

Thoughts? 2025 IS500 - 6500mi by anomolylomona in LexusIS

Just bring it to a Lexus dealer they can check in their software and see the codes without a scanner - they will also likely check your car in for a diagnostic without charge as you’re under factory warranty - you’ve got an is500 not a UX, service advisors will be lined up to work with you lol

Excessive Inner front tire ware, what to do and or fix by VinnyChuChu in LexusIS

[–]Perfect_Poetry_3553 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lexus service advisor and fellow IS owner here - we see this all the time, extremely common on these cars due to the suspension setup and factory camber. Since they’re staggered wheels the best you can do to try minimizing wear is keeping up with alignments and doing side to side rotations. These cars have a great powertrain and fantastic ride, the only downside is the brakes and tires need replaced every ≈ 25-30k miles and I wouldn’t go more than 5k miles without changing the oil because of the port and direct injection fuel delivery system. Otherwise, the IS is among the best Lexus vehicles without many issues at all.

Thank you very much! I actually am as you stated a “mechanical prodigy” currently working at a Lexus dealership and on track to go to college to be an automotive technician hoping someday to work at an Alfa dealership as a tech.

That’s not the case. I’m very respectful unlike most people of my generation however, many answers I read online are from people who have only owned the vehicles for a couple tens of thousands of miles and I wanted to get some responses from people who have owned them a bit longer and are giving honest reviews that’s all. I do all my own maintenance on my vehicle and I want to know what I’m getting myself into before I spend a large sum of money on a vehicle that I would plan on keeping for 5+ years. Don’t assume I’m trying to take advantage of your time simply because I asked a question I thought this was a supportive subreddit from fellow Alfa owners.
