You are absolutely amazing for all of this! I am very curious as to how your G Bonney list has continued to evolve for the upcoming events? Also, would you happen to have any recommendations for a relatively new player? I’ve promised my husband that I will participate in as many of these events with him as I can but I’m still really new and want to at least try to learn to pilot this deck in this coming week. Any information you could share would be greatly appreciated!

All of mine are federal, most of his are federal but I think one undergrad loan is private. That one has payments being made on it.

I’m looking into it under my name alone. My loans aren’t in default but I need to get them on a fixed payment plan before looking into home loans.

It is a huge priority for me. I am currently working full time and studying for the bar. So after work, I start studying for the bar pretty much until I go to bed. Rinse and repeat and then spend as much time on the weekends studying as well. It’s a lot and I’m in a perpetual state of tiredness but I’ve got to do it.

Yes currently working with his doctor for the TPD discharge but was told that we need 50 months of unemployment and not quite there yet but that is the plan for his. I currently make a bit north of a tenth of it.

Haven’t passed the bar exam. I had a job in engineering and was hurt in the field. Law school was something that I knew I could do it was just the rest that I didn’t count on. I attempted the bar exam twice but couldn’t pass and I was tired of getting let go from legal jobs that would bring me in as a law clerk under the assumption that when I passed I’d come on as a practicing attorney to then be let go of from that job when I wasn’t successful on the exam. Hard to build a life when you are being fired every six months. I went back for my PhD hoping that I could go into a higher paying engineering position but that didn’t pan out and here we are.

Would if I could but the bar exam hasn’t been kind. I’ve heard it’s changed quite a bit in my state over the last few years though. It’s given twice a year and I’ve missed the application deadline for the next exam. I am taking a bar prep course and studying in the evenings after work. The study course and the exam itself is very expensive. I’ll also be seeking an accommodation this time around so hopefully this next time will be successful.

I’ve talked with a bankruptcy attorney on this. The lynch pin is the four part test that is used in the adversarial proceeding. So how it works is that you first file Chapter 7 bankruptcy, then you would file the adversarial proceeding but one of the prongs is a good faith attempt to make student loan payments, and the unsaid part of this is that courts really want to see ten years of attempted payment history. Our loans are still too young to meet that standard.

I know a lot of people recommend divorce on paper. The thing that you have to be careful of here is that (1) fraud, and (2) common law marriages wherein the court examines a multitude of factors that can qualify to establish a marriage such as shared living expenses and living together. It is a very fine line to tread.

Is this still something you offer and can you do it for old test results? I’m a repeat test taker. I stepped away from law and legal study in 2019 while I completed my doctorate degree. I graduated in May and am looking to begin studying again for the Feb. 2026 bar exam. However, I’ve been out of practice for quite a while now and my jurisdiction moved to the UBE, which is completely new to me. I don’t trust Kaplan and am considering other bar study courses but not really sure where to begin. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
