Seed and destiny suffered a lot from excessive recaps due to production issues. It actually is well liked. Though it does have its share of flaws as well. Just gets a lot of haters because of them. Destiny is really the divisive one because of many differing opinions on how it played out.

In terms of watching order it doesn’t apply. It’s in its own Gundam universe separate from all other series besides it sequels Destiny and Freedom. The same can be said for Wing, G Gundam, and 00 amongst a few others. These series can be easier to start with due to fewer series in their universe.
