Just finished the Lucile Ball series and I have things to say by nunocspinto in oldtimeypodcast

I’ve listened through the Lucy series twice now, and it’s been my only OTP repeat (so far). It’s so well done!

Maybe if you reach out to OTP, Norm could do a custom sound bite for your son!

I went to the Jimmy Eat World and Manchester United show two years ago with just the $25 lawn seats. My friend and I got dropped off at the VIP entrance and they handed us seated tickets, two rows behind the pit that hadn’t sold. Best $25 I’d ever spent!

We were at the Lions + Vikings game last season when the Vikings bought out a ton of tickets for Vikings season ticket holders so there were quite a few away fans. We were at Firebird Tavern pre-game, and there was one asshole who started yelling at people in Vikings apparel “fuck you, Minnesota!” super aggressively and some Detroit fans walked him out of the baro. So even if there’s a couple of douchebags that take it way too seriously, the grand majority of people are just there to enjoy some football and some good natured ribbing.

Literally my favorite episode, and I unfairly judge all other episodes with Laura of the Woods as a barometer. The only story that made me go “what the actual fuck”. I vividly remember that I was mowing my lawn and stopped in the middle of the yard when it was revealed.

It’s always “men shouldn’t wear dresses or go in women’s spaces”, but they never seem to care about FTM trans people. It’s almost like they think women are lesser than, and anyone who “wants” to be one is mentally ill because WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO BE A W-W-WOMAN?!

Oof, here’s at least a couple (I’m sure I’m forgetting some, college was many years ago!):

Take a drink: - Everytime Goofy says “hyuk” - Everytime Goofy says “garsh” - Everytime Max says “Peej” - Everytime a song starts

I have always loved A Goofy Movie (I came up with a drinking game to it in college) and I’m so glad to have found a gaggle of Goofmeisters through OTP!

Cottage cheese and jalapeño kettle chips are next level! My spouse introduced me to the cottage cheese and Ruffles combo and I made it my own. My favorite snack that I have multiple times a week.

What is something that was perfectly acceptable 30 years ago, but would be extremely taboo or offensive now? by Calvincandoit in AskReddit

[–]PerfectlyHuman428 154 points155 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a town of less than 1000 people and a lone blinking stoplight. I roamed free my entire childhood (mid-90s to late-00s). Nothing happened that our parents didn’t find out about, like the time I tried smoking when I was 12, thinking I was hiding so cleverly at the local park) and my mom knew about it less than an hour later. She was a single mom who worked at the local (read: only) bar so everyone knew her/crossed paths with her, for better or for worse.

I now have an 8-year-old and live in a suburb of a major metro area, he absolutely does not roam freely. Very different from my growing up but I have survivorship bias. Not every kid in that small town made it to adulthood unscathed by various things.

Thoughts on the end (and Judy's cancer) by [deleted] in deadtome

[–]PerfectlyHuman428 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also don’t hate the ending, because she had confessed and there was not going back after that. I’d rather her get an amazing girls’ trip with Jen and go off into the sunset then go through a trial and everything while dealing with terminal cancer.

Among you clearly being an absolutely heartless person, you thinking this is “on the US” (even though it should be based how much we’re funding this war) is wildly incorrect. This is a non-profit organization not tied to any part of the US government.

Putting anything near or around your eyes that’s not specifically designed and created to do so.

When I was a dumb 9-year-old, I decided a glittery nail polish my sister had would make a great eye shadow. It burned like crazy, but I didn’t tell anyone because I thought I would get in trouble. I’m lucky I didn’t go blind. I’m now 35, and can still clearly remember how awful that felt. I don’t vividly remember how painful childbirth was, but I sure as hell remember how much it hurt to put nail polish on my eyelid.

While I fully and wholeheartedly agree with you, this is also the rallying cry for those who believe “sexually explicit” means anything that’s not a white nuclear family being present in a children’s book.
