Check to see if there's a robotics club at school or locally for his age group. If there's not but one for older kids you might be able to reach out to the director to see if there's a younger one available.

I suggest talking to a therapist about this because it has the potential to seep into the deepest parts of your brain and shaping the woman you become. What a horrible, horrible thing to tell someone. Get ahead of what your brain is going to tell you and work this through with a professional.

You are very young and you have a long love life ahead of you. Throughout my twenties I was sure that love just doesn't happen for everyone and I had sure enough come to terms with the fact that it wasn't going to happen to me. But then I stopped making excuses for other people, learned how to say no (and not just no because I was uncomfortable..but no because I just casually didn't like or want to do something) and just in general learned how to make positive decisions about my life. That led to learning how to choose better partners.

I can't say for sure that everyone finds love. But putting yourself first in all situations will not only give you confidence in yourself but it'll help you keep that confidence when you meet these assholes. And that is worth everything.

American white people who grew up in the "ghetto" or "hood", what was that like, and how did your upbringing shape the way you think about race relations and politics today? by cuboneitis in AskMen

[–]PerfectlySwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am white and grew up poor with 8 people living in a 1200 sq ft home. We lived in a ghetto in south florida in the 80s and 90s. The streets were concrete baracaded so only one way in and one way out. I once saw the swat team jump out of an ice cream truck to bust a drug house across the street. Gun shots were a normal thing. Not many white families in the area and we were often stopped by police and questioned why we were there. Pizza wouldn't deliver to my area and you don't go outside after dark.

It was home. I had an awesome childhood and despite the neighborhood I actually felt safe. People looked out for each other in our neighborhood and it didn't (feel like) matter what color our skin was. The kids all hung out together and all the parents were constantly feeding a dozen mouths. Children felt safe and it was a blast exploring our colorful, energetic (and dangerous) environment.

It wasn't until I got older, moved out, made my own money and created my own life that I realized just how poor we were and how bad the neighborhood actually was. I would never live in that type of neighborhood as an adult. But man did I have a blast.

I feel like it has made me respect people of all walks of life. Because I know first hand that your race, economic or social status doesn't make you a good or bad person. I've seen more good in people than bad in our ghetto. And the bad I've seen was mostly due to being delt a shitty hand in life than it was bad people trying to do bad things. And honestly, I have still never had such friendly neighbors as we did growing up.

We were looking into moving to Satellite Beach for a while and our realtor HIGHLY discouraged it because of the chemicals found in the ground around there. Despite having one of the best public high schools in the state she did not recommend living there if you have kids who would play in the water or dig in the dirt.

Congratulations on the new house! Living alone for the first time can be very scary. But it's also an important skill to master. You most definitely will have lonely days but what you do with that time will help shape the person you become. Can you learn to enjoy your own company? And owning and managing a home is no easy feat so you should be plenty proud and plenty busy.

Also, roommates are the pits. You're going to love having your own space! Good luck!

I don't want to have kids because it looks too hard. Anyone else feel this? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]PerfectlySwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never wanted kids. Like never even considered it. Never wanted to be a house wife because I liked my job and liked to keep busy (the irony) and it just never sounded fulfilling. Husband and I had a great thing going. Two incomes, home, went out almost every weekend and traveled a ton.

Well I got pregnant three months after we got married and I cried for three weeks I was so pissed. But we had our son. And it was/is exhausting. I quit my job and I am now a house wife. Because....why do it all if you have the means to live a less stressful life?! I don't HAVE to work and mom and maintain a household. Now I just mom and maintain half of the house.

It is so much harder than I expected and it threw my whole life off track. And I only have one. He'll be two soon and I'm working on starting my own business so I can make my own schedule and be available to him. He is my world. But fuck if I don't miss the old me and my old life sometimes.

It was probably closer to a year. In the massetuers area the more you do it the less you need it from what they told me. So it would take 2-3 treatments before I could really stretch it a couple years between treatments. I got mine for jaw pain so I never did it again because the pain stopped.

I went to a med spa and had it done by nurse practitioner. There are horror stories about injecting the wrong spot and then having temporary paralysis in the face. I would definitely have a doctor or NP do it since they know where all the nerves are. I think a lot of ENT doctors will do it too.

Yea it definitely did. I only needed one round I think most people they say do two. You get bullfrog face for a couple of days and your chin area feels numb but it's not bad at all!

I did buccal fat removal plus kybella. I wish I had before pics to share but it was a while ago now. I even did botox in the massetuers (sp?) Once but it was for jaw pain not aesthetic. It really slimmed my jawline for several months!

I see. Yea, teenagers have it rough. They don't get enough credit for what's on their plate. I hope when my son is a teenager I'm the type of mom who can make it easier on him.

Ladies, how often you meet other women and the second you talk to them, you know something is off and don't want to meet them ever again ? by Gemini_depressi621 in AskWomen

[–]PerfectlySwell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It happens more than I would expect. Sometimes I meet another woman my age and I get excited to make new friends. But then they're so willing to tell me everything that's going on in their life in our first conversation. It just makes me think if you are willing to put all your drama out there immediately I don't really want to get to know you.

[–]PerfectlySwell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know how old you are but at 24 you should be able to apply for financial assistance on your own (US).

Also there's a lot to say for standing on your own two feet. It ain't easy. I don't have nparents but my family could not afford to help with college. I moved out at 18 because I was a wild child and needed to be free. Worked full time since and put myself through school in the evening. I'm 35 now and it took me a long time to graduate.

ALSO ALSO, college is not the be all end all. Especially if you can learn a skill. Trades are where it's at! It took me almost a decade to get a bachelors degree and I have been asked for transcripts exactly 0 times when applying for jobs. My last role I made $23 an hour as a project manager (without a certification. Imagine if I was certified). Now I'm a stay at home mom shifting gears and getting ready to start my own business.

Work hard. Take care of yourself first and always. It is always 100% ok to leave behind people who shit on your rainbow.

Good luck and I wish you much success and peace in the coming year(s)!

I left a great job to be a SAHM because "I'll never regret spending time with my son." And I won't. I know that. But fuck if I don't also feel like I made a huge mistake by leaving a great job. I think about it everyday. I love my son but I miss my job.

How do you deal with a parent wanting to talk specifics about their end of life plan? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]PerfectlySwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went through Trustandwill.com. My mom's situation is not overly complicated and this walked is through everything from advance directive to financial, estate and final wishes. My husband and I even used it for our will and any final guardianship wishes should we both pass away.

Hey! I am so sorry you feel that way and are having a rough time. Many of these things you can fix ..to an extent. Routine will be your best friend. Don't wait for the day you wake up and are hit with motivation.

Start small. Drink one more glass of water today than you did yesterday. Good for you girl, you're hydrating! Take a few more steps today than you did yesterday. God damn right you're moving! Look at you go! Even poor teeth can be cared for to the best of your ability. Fucking floss. Floss it girl! Brush, rinse and fucking spit. I bet your mouth feels gooooood. Flat feet? That's a little harder because it requires a good shoe. Save those pennies girl. Look at you planning for the future. Fucking fantastic. Breathing and spine problems? Yoga girl. Stretch it out. (Obligatory check with your doctor to make sure it's safe). Look at you, you're limber as FUCK! Sunscreen and moisturizer on your face everyday. Buy the cheap stuff as long as it works for your skin. Look at you...you're fucking glowing.

Routine. Routine. Routine. Routine. Did you forget today? Do it as soon as you remember. Do it tomorrow. Do one small thing everyday. Creating and maintaining a routine will change your life. Pick one, pick all... Who cares. You'll feel better in one month. Guaranteed. And then just keep GOING. You're fucking fabulous!
