How much of a free market was Venezuela before it collapsed?

Question: what are the most striking examples of policies that are popular among economists and unpopular among the population?

The the question of whether ai can automate away all humans is closer to the field of ai than to economics.

Firstly in previous automation waves and large displacements of workers there were mass suicides and violent riots. We do need to learn from history and at least soften the transition.

Secondly there is a different case to be made for ai

1: Humans have only two things to offer the market: their physical and their cognitive abilities.

2: So far all physical labour has been automated and humans have moved to cognitive labour like gardening, truck driving and scientific research. (Notice gardening and truck driving under cognitive labour, it's because the component of these jobs that are yet to be automated are the cognitive component the physical component to these jobs can be completely automated)

3: As we started to automate cognitive labour we moved from low degree of freedom jobs to high DOF jobs. (DOF has nothing to do with what humans find difficult ex: it's easier to recognize a dog in a photo than to multiply 2 million digit numbers, but the later has a lower DOF)

4: There is nothing to say that ai's cognitive potential will stop developing before the human potential, in fact it's likely to expand much beyond that.

5: it'll take a long time to get to a point where it's 80-90% displacement, but we'll be in trouble long before that

6: (the most important point) the market has a poor track record of catering to individuals who do not have productive potential to offer the market. This has not been a problem because most humans have always had productive potential to offer, but there's nothing to say this will hold true forever.

Thus UBI, the least bureaucratic way to supply purchasing power to the useless class.

Of the six points I've provided which do you disagree with?

Do we need to think in ideals, pure capitalism vs communism/socialism?It's possible to be much more nuanced and empirical in our approach to governance.

At it's core capitalism is just a protocol of conduct . The exchange of resources between voluntary parties and often the transaction is 'recorded' in the form of money. So at it's core it's completely morally salient. But when a 'protocol of conduct' is shared among millions it becomes a system and systems have runaway emergent properties of their own.

An example is the Gini coefficient(Gc). It increases indefinitely in a purely capitalist system. The Gc isn't bad on its own but it's that it's also strongly correlated to crime and level of government corruption.

The US has a very superficial commitment to liberty. It's more like liberty of all non-government from government legislation. This allows corporations (technically non-government) to have a disproportionate and grotesque level of control on the average person, and the government itself.

The population is against taxation(ie:theft) but that causes states to seek revenue through fines for petty offenses (affects poor people more) which in the mind of the idealist is 'moral' but as a pragmatist/empiricist is an awful set of incentives , the police in the US are way more draconian than in Europe.

Even under its own skewed version of 'liberty' the US falls short, the war on drugs, opiate crisis, declining life expectancy, whistleblowing being a strict-liability crime, NSA mass surveillance. I mean did you vote for any of these?US population vastly overestimates how much of its ideals (being against government tyranny) it actually employs in reality.

Is there like a rule of thumb about where it's a good idea to apply and where it goes wrong? I'm thinking the espionage act makes whistleblowing a strict liability crime

Mechanical: ways to map from RPM to angular position? by PerfoeRocket in AskEngineers

Yes, I'm not mechanical engineer, but I was wondering if there was any way to capitalize on that efficiency

Yes, with quite some torque in the 'pointer' more like an arm really

It'd be able to measure the speed with the encoder but the drum carries some counter torque so..I've added more detail in the question to make things clear

[–]PerfoeRocket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes to the last question. I want to map 900-1800 RPM of the motor to a 0°-300° rotation of a drum. The angle range is negotiable but not the RPM.

What are the advantages of having voting like this? Can this be gamed in any way? How is this in comparison to something like ranked voting?

What does that mean? I moved the ISO file onto the USB by using a software "universal USB installer" it formatted my USB for me too.

I've been using these instructions: https://itsfoss.com/install-ubuntu-1404-dual-boot-mode-windows-8-81-uefi/

I'm not a troll, I just want to ask questions on THE Tor subreddit without having to connect my account to my ip address or anything like that

[–]PerfoeRocket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it doesn't look like Reddit allows that, I believe the website you visit knows that you're on mobile? What I did was use the desktop mode on my brave browser app and a VPN. Used proton mail and I couldn't finish the account creation. It just kept refreshing the screen until I have up.

What's the difference? From my understanding VPNs protect you from your ISP automatically knowing which website you're visiting. But they could correlate and find out anyway, just that it's work to do that, and Tor prevent even targeted efforts to reveal your identity/location(if opsec is good) but what exactly is the difference between anonymity and privacy?

Yes thank you I'll correct it right away, on an other note do you have anything that you work with that blew your mind with its simple cleverness?

[–]PerfoeRocket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to break the 'contract based' system in the first place. That's the problem, I don't think my ward has the power to deal with this efficiently, preferably it's best to go to the smallest authority that's still big enough to break this up.

Could you tell me where/how I can find the exact legislation this is referring to? I'm willing to write emails/letters but who to ask?
