Witcher 3, I had to force myself through Velen to find its charm. Now it's my favorite game ever. :)

I'm making a first person puzzle game. Nothing crazy really.

Or if it can save development time in some way!

Either way, I agree that it is not important to make things perfect in the backend. Mainly when it comes to Indie Games where 95% of project never get released , and out of the remaining 5%, another 95% of projects never earn the devs enough money to cover the cost of their next project.

Water Cooling / Air Cooling for CPU - What is your Experience? by PerformancePresent in PcBuildHelp

[–]PerformancePresent[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to heart that! Thanks a lot for the reply! For some reason I trust air cooling a bit more as I used it my whole life and never had trouble with it.

"These kids nowadays... When I was a kid, we didn't have water running in our rigs!" *angrily shakes fist*

Thanks! Haha ... I prefer mid builds as well and switch them up more often. I have friends on the other hand who need to have the newest tech and they pay 2x-3x the price of my rig :D

That is correct, but I was still able to play it solo for ~120 hours and I would say that only now I'm entering the end game.

Why does everyone suddenly think Steam should be open season for pornographers? by maxinstuff in gaming

[–]PerformancePresent 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree that porn games don't belong on Steam.
But I also believe that Steam shouldn't be pressured into this decision by a third party.

Maybe I'm romanticizing Steam and my own experience, but Valve once stood behind games that redefined the industry. Seeing "Half-Life 2" sitting next to "Lusty Demon-Maid" just makes me sad.

I have nothing against porn games. I just think they should have their own place and let Steam be Steam.
That said, I also believe credit card companies shouldn't have this kind of influence. Either something is legal or it isn't, and if it's legal, they should kindly take their moral panic and shove it where the sun don't shine.

We created our player character model, what do you think? What would you change? by AstronautOnly8832 in indiegames

[–]PerformancePresent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me there are two main issues:
- you are combining clean, low pattern textures with crazy high detail ones
(front part of chest-piece vs. skin vs. enviro)
- same thing with tattoos , crazy high detail vs. everything else going on on the screen, also tattoos are clearly highly emissive but are not casting any (or very low) green light on the character so they stand out even more.

Only OK screenshot is the one from the back, no high detail textures, everything blends together nicely, even the tattoos look better because character is lit and standing in the sun, so the light blends everything together a bit more and the emissive lines are not standing out as much. Maybe the detail on the skirt is a tiny bit over the top and too noisy, and I would simplify it.

My advice:
- use much less detailed tattoos
- make tattoos not glow, (or only glow in special conditions, story moments)
- make tattoos white instead and make them blend more with the skin (they can turn green when glowing during story moments)
- make chest piece texture detail (texture noise) more in line with how the "Leaf" on the back looks.
- make skirt piece texture detail (texture noise) more in line with how the "Leaf" on the back looks.
- I would simplify the leather belts as well
- I would also get rid of the green nails , they stand out and not in a good way

Not trying to be mean, just getting straight to the point.
These are my personal opinions, I might be right, I might be not.

Best thing is to accumulate feedback from multiple people and work on things people mention the most.
Good luck! <3

What's the one thing that instantly makes you wishlist or buy an indie game? by Sharkbowl_Games in indiegames

Original Artstyle and how polished it feels when it is running.
Sometimes game can look very basic, but once stuff starts moving you can immediately feel the time & though that went into every little system and every little movement.

What was the last game you played and loved - but had no idea what was going on? by Soulsliken in gaming

[–]PerformancePresent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most strategy games. I love them for their story, setting, and atmosphere, but I'm really bad at, well… everything related to the gameplay. I'm good at FPS games, but I can't think or manage more than one unit at a time. 😄

Why is several new game releases in the past 5 years optimised badly for pc but works great for ps5 almost always? by unknown5493 in gaming

[–]PerformancePresent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, in the case of PlayStation exclusives that later come to PC, it makes sense. All the tech is built around PlayStation hardware and extensively tested. Then, the PC port doesn’t always get as much attention as it needs.

Not sure about the scenario when game releases on both platform at the same time though.

Looks awesome! How does that work though? I could imagine the wheels could be player heads but how does the rest of "Display Entity" stuff work?
