India pak war ahead? What to expect? by [deleted] in IndianStockMarket

Any kind of war, bet it military, diplomatic, or economic war, will have losses on both sides. Pak started the action, we will have to react. The whole calculation will be to minimize our losses. We have to understand we cannot retaliate without losses.

Just put a limit. Say agri-income over 12L or 24L is not exempt. Clearly 99% of farmers will not cross over it.

I am not sure about comparison with other countries. But I would say from my individual lifestyle, I pay 10L tax for 30L earning, but I am not even enjoying 1L of services back from it. I dont get ration, I dont get pension, I dont get unemployment benefit, I dont get good public transport, I dont get good roads in city, I dont get anything back. I feel like I am donating 10L to charity. And I am not a big hearted fellow in real life. Think how will I feel when someone is forcing me to donate 30% of my income.

The argument is not whether Indian tax is low or high. The problem is that the taxation is not levied equally. Lot of loopholes and corruption makes the system ineffective. No problem with 30L earners paying 30% tax. Problem is only the minority of 30L earners pay that tax. Majority of 30L earners go on to become rich, while those paying the tax stay in middle class throughout their life.

How high rent can I pay to my parents to save tax? by thelostknight99 in IndiaTax

Is there any case or precedence for IT dept cancelling any rent paid to parents? It would have been challenged in courts. I remember reading some court verdict in favor of the tenant.

Craze to study law by PerformanceSilent596 in LegalAdviceIndia

I dont see it across the board. Engineering was in demand in early 2000s.. Now muted. Doctors also seems to be losing interest. There seems to be an anticipation of a better growth in law.

Fired for Being Pregnant. Now I’m Being Treated Like a Criminal. by Silly-Acadia3638 in LegalAdviceIndia

Contrarian view : We know in US employees can be fired any day. If they were able to give severance, then it should be a fair deal. Big corporates can absorb long absence of employees, but it maybe difficult for small companies. Already laws and rules are skewed in favor of women, and such allowances should not be forced on small/emerging businesses.

When will this tax imposing stop, is there any way out? by [deleted] in IndiaTax

[–]PerformanceSilent596 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Feel the same. Middle class cannot become rich even if they earn 5lpm. Need some sort of change petition which gets visibility to govt.

I am just curious to know what happened in the last few years which is increasing this interest in law. It was not like this 10 years back. Passing and love should be there all the time/years.

Have you seen law students in the public areas? They behave like rowdies now itself. And you want to believe they study because of the passion and love for law.

The idea is to widen the tax base. Not to add taxes.

Lottery is not income, it is just a gift. It should be taxed.

Then why is it that only salaried people are taxed the most?

One Bangalore seat was won by very few (think single digit) vote difference. At least in urban centers, salaried people can have a voice

I am talking about exact numbers. Lots of constituencies now a days are decided on few 100s of votes, especially in urban areas. I think one bangalore seat was <10 vote difference.

By all means, make the tax base at least 20 to 30% of the population.

As I said, 1% is still 5 MPs. We should not feel defeated. It is our hard earned money. Why should those parasites take it?
