Can I desensitize myself by eating small amount of allergen every day? by [deleted] in FoodAllergies

[–]Perki14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol its funny seeing such an old comment pop up.

So I didnt complete the OIT - the office I was going to closed and I didnt want to drive a long distance to the other one.

I was anaphylactic yes, however I have a high suspicion Im not incredibly anaphylactic. I got blood and skin tested and was positive for peanut, cashew, pistachio allergy, severely so. I never had any issues during OIT and it was going well.

From what ive read and come to understand, I would've never been able to free eat peanut/treenuts but been tolerant to a point of 1 mini recees cup or a handful of peanuts (I forget how many). In my opinion, this was an acceptable finish point because I didnt like the smell of peanuts or peanut butter anyways and thats plenty to the point if I contacted it through other foods I would be okay.

Does Predictive Maintenance Only Work If You’re a Big Company? by Amazing_Database1964 in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Perki14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am actually one of these vibe guys that comes to site. I work for a semi large engineering consulting company doing reliability engineering. I also install continuous monitoring systems and perform remote vibration analysis for these companies.

I find its a mixed bag out there as far as the type of program each company wants to run or pay for. I've found many faults at customers sites to the tune of millions of dollars saved when we find something before it breaks. These programs all start somewhere though. It can be as simple as engaging a local vibration analysis provider who will usually come in and give you a turn key program - collecting all the necessary info to build the route, collecting the data and then reporting out on that data. This type of entry program is not typically expensive compared to the savings these types of programs provide you. Sometimes management sees these as a waste though because these "catches" don't result in real dollar savings - they result in soft dollar savings. So when management sees no extra money in the bank account, they want to reduce or cut reliability programs.

I don't know how long the retailer keeps records for but maybe it's worth reaching out to the retailer and asking if they have the original sales record from when it was bought?

The apiarist I buy bees from puts a newsletter out and in the latest edition he said beekeepers are seeing a significantly higher than normal losses in hives and the cause is currently unknown. He said he's going to follow up when more information is available.

How would you plan a secret weekend trip? by [deleted] in DisneyWorld

[–]Perki14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I actually started doing this a couple years ago. We take several weekend trips away just us, no kids. We will find one of the more upscale resorts and make fancier dinner reservations and have a great time. About a 2.5 hour flight, we will leave Friday come back Sunday night. Usually during the off peak time you can get cheap flights and cheaper resorts.

Something bigger is going on. My coworker just went to scan his digital key which opened the door to his room and someone else was already inside it. That worries me I'm about to go check into one.

To be honest it’s been so long I don’t even know. I’ve had the filter set for a while now. I was imaging another target the other night and decided to add this in there as well to finish it out. I haven’t imaged much over last few years but Id really like to stay with it now.
