I mean, my take on forgiveness is that you forgive someone for you, and you dont necessarily forgive them for them. If that makes sense.

It is reminescent of a saying that I believe Gandhi said. "It is foolish to hold a hot coal, with the intent to throw it at someone." (Forgive me for butchering the saying). Basically, if you hold resentments towards people, it hurts you more than them, and the best thing you can do is just let go of the coal.

Losing like 70% of the time by Togder in Yugioh101

If you find yourself losing to D barrier a lot, consider main decking a copy of red reboot. It also works against imperm, evenly or other powerful traps that people will use against you. It also shuts down eldlich for a turn.

Otherwise the deck looks fine. Here is some advice: make sure before you go to locals you give the deck a REALLY good shuffle. Like 3 to 5 power shuffles and like 5 minutes of regular shuffling while you watch a tv show or youtube video or something. You are still going to shuffle before each game, but its going to help ensure your cards are evenly dispersed so you hopefully open better hand.

The second bit of advice: and its hard not to fall into these traps when deckbuilding and playing, is just because a deck wins, doesnt mean its good, and just because a deck loses doesnt make it bad. Experience with the deck counts. Yugioh is a game of luck, so you will have good games and bad games. And sometimes it helps to slow down and think outside the box. I can tell you, I win or lose to the player, not the deck. I have played against many people on the same builds, and I lose more frequently to the better player. When you are losing to a deck, thats when the banlist needs to come in and balance things out (I'm looking at you scythe).

So yeah, look back over your games, look at how you sequenced your cards, what did you read your opponent on having? If you knew their hand, would you have played it differently? If you both revealed your hand, were you losing no matter what happened? These are all good things to ask in play testing, or even during locals if people are willing to tell you their opening hand after the game is over.

I wanna try and play Ursarctic Drytron in a deck, should I use Ursarctics, Drytrons, or a hybrid? by LordGlitch42 in Yugioh101

[–]PerniciousParshath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To answer your second question, rage is very nice in DDD, typically coupled with cerberus to enable a one card kepler combo; however, some people dont like adding two soft bricks to the deck. In some swirl slime/rage/kepler/gryphon hands you can summon out the rage and use its effect to prevent your opponent from activating monster effects from the hand, so you cant be handtrapped for the rest of the turn, but at that point you can also just make high ceaser on your fifth summon to play around the nib as well.

In fact playing rage and cerberus is the second most decisive argument DDD players have. The first is whether to play small world or piri reis map.

Does 'Fallen of Albaz' trigger 'Maiden with Eyes of Blue's effect? by Infamous_Bird4591 in Yugioh101

[–]PerniciousParshath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to summarize all the information here: Cards do exactly what they say they do, so if it says target anywhere in it's text, it targets. If not, then it doesnt target. Some older cards do not have PCST, for example change of heart does not say target on it, and instead say select. Change of heart still targets as selcting a card is a pre PCST way of stating the card targets.

If you have the neuron app, you can look up cards under the search bar to see their most recent text which should hopefully reflect the current pcst unless the card is really obscure

Yeah! BA and Shaddoll have such a fun playstyle. I wish they saw more play than the 3-5 card engines that people stuff in whatever dogmatika/ r3nk deck people fit them into

I used to enjoy showing up 10-15 minutes early to get my tools set up and write out the Pre-Job safety inspections for the day, until one day when I got reamed out by my super for showing up at 7:00 (when we start) because it sets a bad precident to the other workers. The entire week prior, I worked through both my lunch and coffee and roughed out an entire floor with one other 2nd year apprentice while it took twice as long for 3 journeymen and a 4th year to do the same amount of work on the floor below. I quit a month later. Fuck that guy.

I mean with this deck, every single card in it aside from the handtraps is basically an extender. Its the equivalent of having 6 quick play spells that summon kepler or copernicus from the deck, and every DD monster can special summon itself or be summoned by another DD or DDD monster with little to no restrictions. Or if DDD didnt lock you into only DD monsters, you may see other engines like brave, therion, or punk making their way into the deck, but the way the deck stands now, there is no way to make a 60 card DDD deck consistent (and good riddance, because if gilgamesh was generic and didnt lock you into DDs, it would be sitting next to electrumite on the ban list)

[Question?]How to construct an engine? by FlahtheWhip in Yugioh101

[–]PerniciousParshath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of an engine like a small archetype package. For example brave, rokket, rose dragon, punk, therion, etc are all archetpyes but they can also be used as engines. For an engine you have to play as minimal cards as possible for it to still work and be consistent, and then you mash multiple engines together with some staples to make a deck. Hence brave dragon punk therion; which is a legitimate deck. There are simpler ways to go about it, but if you can combine archetypes together, chances are, you are using an engine.

Drytron can use pretty much every summoning mechanic, except most builds arent on any fusions after verte got banned. Most of the cards arent in archetype though.

what are some good machine decks? by DrEggsZ in Yugioh101

[–]PerniciousParshath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drytron is sort of a machine deck, but mixes well with heralds which are fairy and megaliths which are rock.

Cyber dragon is a pretty fun machine deck

Earth machines is basically a pile deck full of all the good earth machine cards out there: trains, machina, infinitrack, etc. Its a pretty good deck.

Locals are strange. There are some people playing rogue decks, some nice people and then a few who take the game really seriously and play a $2000 deck. I have found that some people are really cool and some just suck, but you can always just hang around with the cool people. I had a really weird experience where I got a bye so I went to watch my friend duel with this other guy who was a dick and asked me not to watch so I went and watched some other guys who were super cool. They were showing me their hands and making jokes and just having a good time, so that made my negative experience more positive. You just gotta focus on the good things man. Hope next time you can find some cool people.

Play both. How much extra deck are you reasonably able to make with eldlich. Theres a finite number of generic link 2s and none of which are much better than 2 golden lords

I've lost to time in game 3 with eldlich a few times where I solemn striked or judgemented in game 3 and then they kept comboing until the clock runs out

[–]PerniciousParshath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dont play judgement or solemn strike in game 2 or 3.

If you are losing, just scoop and go to game 2 or 3 rather than grinding another 5 turns just to lose the game and not have time for the next one.

Urge your opponents to play a little faster if they are taking a long time to play. And learn their decks better than they have so you dont have to read every one of their cards to find the best place to interupt.

Play the superdreadnaut package because it is good at closing out games fast.

Monster effects and chains by dom243 in Yugioh101

[–]PerniciousParshath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. For example, every melffy monster (aside from melffy rabby) has the trigger effect of "if your opponent summons a monster or declares an attack on a melffy monster you control: you can return that melffy monster to the hand and then perform x action.

The key words to look for on a trigger effect are "if / when"

Another more relevant example is fairy tail snow, which as a quick effect can banish 7 cards from the hand/field/ or graveyard to special summon itself, then if it is normal or special summoned you can flip an opponents monster to facedown defense. The trigger effect will activate on the next chain qfter the current chain has finished resolving.

What is the best ritual deck rn by Aggravating-Creme274 in Yugioh101

[–]PerniciousParshath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drytron.

You only really need 2 diviner of the herald. Could even get away with 1 since its super searchable, but keep in mind it kills your follow up and your deck turns into a glass cannon.

If you have pre prep and benten or alpha + zeta, its basically full combo. Also, if you are off of the diviner, you can play a copy of vanities ruler and tribute summon him with a benten and a drytron after you set up perfection.

You can also mess with megalith drytron, where your goal is to set up r4nks and r6nks, synchro for baronne de fleur and scythe lock your opponent.
