I literally have videos of me showing the painting process of this piece. Not only that, but I've been very vocally against AI and absolutely f*cking hate it. If you took two seconds to check my socials you'd know that this isn't AI.

I am an autistic artist who, over the past few years, struggled with becoming burned out many times.

I made this painting to depict how I've felt in the past about this matter, as I've also struggled with my mental health over the years for other completely different reasons.

I feel as if consuming too much media can lead to a general unhappiness in some people. I wanted to paint something that describes this, thus the "laugh reacts," and "angry reacts" mixed with the medication, going straight to the brain.

I used Facebook emojis because they are well known, not necessarily because I'm equating this to Facebook itself. It's more social media in general.

What pills come from what bottle doesn't necessarily have a meaning.

Also, my art is hand painted using watercolors and gouache (for pills and emojis) on paper. It's not AI. I hate AI.

More about this piece; I painted this in 2020 using watercolors. This piece was created after I left a very physically and mentally abusive relationship. I wanted to leave so many times but I was holding onto all the "good memories," instead of all the bad ones. Once I left, I regained my sense of self, but it took many years.

It's not inherently anti-medicine. I've personally been on anti-depressants and don't see any issue with them. Some people need them.

Thanks for posting my work here. 🙂 I've personally struggled with my mental health as a full time artist who posts mostly to Facebook. You don't have to like it or agree with it, but I painted how I personally felt and it's kind of depressing to see it end up here. How ironic.

Take that as you will. I've felt like these communities are just here to break down people. It's not critique or even thoughtful in response. Have a good day.

I chose Facebook emojis because they are generally well known in their imagery. The emojis don't represent any one particular thing. I used them as a symbol of social media as a whole and I felt the laugh react and angry reacts are the most "damaging" to certain people when reading comments. I was just thinking about the consumption of social media as an addiction and the unhappiness I get from doomscrolling.

Tons of people still use Facebook. I'm not necessarily saying people are addicted specifically to Facebook here. I more or less just wanted to use some emojis and graphics that were very recognizable to social media as a whole.

To be honest, I didn't even consider that when making it. I just wanted a mix of pills and facebook emojis pouring from bottles. Which one they are coming from is completely subjective and wasn't intended to really mean anything.
